Picked this up on December 27th. It's a 2007 Dyna Super Glide Custom. Really a nice ride. I've only put a little over 100 miles on it so far but it's very comfortable and fun to ride. A nice addition to the BMW R1150R which is my daily driver. I'll try the Harley for some longer trips.

Congratulations.  An outsanding model from H-D.  Know someone else with this bike and they are totally smitten.  Also know of another STN member giving this bike strong consideration.  The new 96" engine and six speed tranny deliver.  Good perspective here:

Just curious.  What made you choose the FXDC over the FXD or FXDL?  I ask because I, too, am considering the addition of a Dyna.

Thanks.

Well I basically liked the looks of the FXDC better than the low rider and I think it has a little bit more ground clearance. Also I bought a Low Rider in 2002. I traded it not long after getting it (for a BMW R1150RT) because I did not like the 5 speed transmission but now that they have the six speed I was ready to try another Dyna.
There's really not much difference in the FXDL and FXDC, just whatever apeals to you personally. The larger displacement and the six speed transmission are great additions. The transmission is smoother shifting than any other Harley or BMW I have ever owned. I have not really romped on the throttle yet because I don't want to do that until I get more miles on it, but the engine seems pretty responsive and should have enough power to suit. The only negative I have noted is the throttle is a little but on or off due to the fuel injection, which is not that uncommon on a fuel injected bike. It's not bad though, just not quit as smooth as the BMW fuel injection on my 04 R1150R. I think it will be as quick as the R1150R though, except of course in the turns.
The FXDC is very balanced, turns very easily and rides good. I am very happy with it. Can't wait til I can take in on a long trip.

congrats on the 96"... i'm on the light touring end of the spectrum. i own an '05 FLHR (88" road king) and it performs 90-95% of the riding i find myself doing, legal speeds, 2up w/extra "stuff", appx 10-12k miles per year. ever since i sold my concours 2 years ago i've been looking for a garage mate... something for strictly solo sport/adventure touring. 2007 might be the year???

agian... sweet bike and in this part of NC, H-D support is top notch, hope you find the same where you are.

I have a 2007 FXD which replaced my 2001 ZRX1200. So far I am very happy with it. It is probably the best handling cruiser that HD puts out (other than the street rod) . On the highway at 80mph it is smoother than any other bike I rode (including in line fours) . check out the HD forums:

Sweet ride. I think Dynas are HD's best all round bike: BT, great handling for a cruiser, beautiful cruiser lines/poise, *very* comfy. I'd suggext paying the HD tax, ie aftermarket pipes (S.E. slip-ons are good) and a "reflash." Also, get some Avon Venoms on that bike ASAP(!!), the difference in handling over the stock Dunrocks is remarkable. The Yahoo Dyna Owners Group is excellent as well:

Way cool. Congrats! :cool:You may want highway pegs for long distance stuff... that way you have a variety of foot placement options. Sometimes I'd put my feet on the passenger pegs and pretend I was on a Gixxer. Lol

Interesting thread.   I have a sporster right now, I'm keeping it, but I'm about to buy an R1100R.  I would love to hear what you think of the HD handling, suspension, and power compared to the BMW.

The Feb '07 issue of American Rider has an article about the Dyna and it's convertibility.

Wookie, I don't have it broken in yet so I can't tell you for sure about the power compared to my R1150R but it feels like it will have close to the same acceleration but not quite as much in first and second gear. The handling is unbelievably easy. It turns so easily and smoothly and feels like it weighs much less that it actually does. I took a 200 miles trip on it weekend before last and it's the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. The stock seat is fantastic. I did have a 2002 HD low rider but was dissatisfied with it because of the harsh suspension, and vibration at 60 mph. This bike has more power, better suspension, better ground clearance and a six speed transmission. It's worlds apart from the 2002 I had. The only thing I don't like about my particular model is that it comes with spoke wheels which means tube type tires, so no plugs on the side of the road. But I have roadside assistance and Harley dealerships are everywhere so it's not that big a deal.

I've had a XL1200 sporster (loved it) and put a lot of miles on the R1100R, and can tell you that handling, suspension, brakes, and power are vastly superior on the R1100R. Great bike. Not as "visceral" as the H-D, but for covering a lot of miles in comfort, or in the twisties, the Beemer is the much better bike functionally. Get the heated grips. Inlove

Note: the low-end torque may feel greater on the H-D, but the power runs out pretty quickly. The beemer has a very flat torque curve and makes satisfying power everywhere.

Beautiful ride.  Congrats!  Other than not draggin pipes at ever corner and engine black out treatment I would have mistaken it for a FXDL.  The only thing I don't like about the Dyna update is they removed the eyebrow.  For me that's always been one of the most appealing FX/XL styling cues.
