Anybody going?  I picked up a hotel and boy did they raise the prices for the event.  135.00 for singles when the usual looks like it was 37.00 +/-  Sad.  I hate that when they do that.

Hey, this sounds really fun.  I'll be just finishing up a brutal (1.5 year) project at work so a week in Wyoming sounds just right!  Banana

By the way, I live in Sandy, UT so if I actually do this, maybe we can ride together.

I will probably not do this one. I did the one in Asheville last year and I wasn't too impressed  Headscratch  Camping near 5000+ people isn't my thing.

That, and I've got a trip to the PCH and redwoods in June.

Asheville was the BMW RA rally, this one is the BMWMOA rally. MOA is quite a bit bigger than the RA group, tho membership is mostly the same folks. I don't expect Rally attendance this year to break the 6K mark, due to location. The presence of The New Riders of the Purple Sage as the (likely) main entertainment will bring the numbers up, but probably not to east coast levels.

Probably not going. Two reasons:

I don't own a BMW and likely won't anytime soon.

It's in Gillette WY.  Headscratch  I've been to Gillette...

Its in Gillette!?   Lol Lmao rofl  Stop at Humphrey's for dinner while your there.  There is Devil's Tower, and then the Black Hills, and Montana is a little ways north.  Its not too hard to get to ND, SD, MT, and back to Wyoming if your one of those map filler types.

There is some awesome riding in the area.  Bighorn summit comes to mind, dead indian pass, beartooth pass, jellystone park, are a looong stretch for day rides by could be done on the way there and back.  Sturgis, Deadwood, Spearfish, Mt Rushmore and even the Blackhills are reachable too.

WHy anyone would have anything in Gillette is beyond me?? It's a good hour+ to the nearest curve! But, as you said, the Black Hills are a hundred miles to the East. The Bighorns are 70 miles to the West. And beartooth is about 300 miles (?) North West. Still, why Gillette?? IT's flat, windy, and either too hot or too cold?? I guess you can eat at Humphreys, but that's about it. Unless you are looking to score some crank, then you are in the right place!!

I am going with a friend , but we are going out to 4 corners and then back up and around to the rally. I own a GS so I will have fun no matter what. Its about meeting people and talking bikes. My father was out that way years ago  and said its not to bad. I would rather is it somewhere around the East again  Thumbsup   Oh well anything to get on the bike and ride    Bigok

FWIW, there is an "Un-Rally" planned for July 8 - 11 in John Day, Oregon.  I'm leaning towards the un-rally at this point.

Cool  Maybe Beemer riders like crank.  Lol  The location still cracks me up everytime I think of it.  Somebody must have thrown a dart a map or something.   Lol

Like Greench440 said there is riding around Gillette, and the adventure types have plenty of gravel roads to explore.  It will take a day trip to hit the areas where the good rides are.  I shouldn't laugh too much, its not like there is a lot of riding around Glendive.

Here are some maps of the roads I have been on with my bike.

Billings Loop - Beartooth Pass, Dead Indian Pass, Bighorn mountians (hwy 14).

Black Hills, and there are more places to visit there than I made in my one day loop.  There are a couple of pics in my smugmug folder.

Best of luck on the rides.
