Garry, thanx for organizing this  Thumbsup
I'm part of the Chicago crew that's heading over (I made it to the 2006 event). Great weekend.

Just a heads up about the weather. The 15 day initial forecast for Clearfield has rain on Saturday and Sunday  Crazy

Yes, the weather can change and hopefully it will and anyways, rain or shine, we're there  Cool

Not to worry, they couldn't get this weekend's weather forecast right on Friday afternoon.  What makes you think they can predict anything 2 weeks out?

And don't ya love it when the put the little picture up for the day with the Sun over the clouds with raindrops falling out of the clouds?   EEK!  What the heck it that?  Talk about covering your butt. Or when you blast off with only a 20% chance of showers, and you seem to ride in that 20% most of the day?? Headscratch..

We should know for sure by the 19th about 10pm....  Lol

Today was supposed to rain all day here by our forecast.. we had none.

Can't wait to go..

Something is telling me not to go on this ride. The last time I felt this way was on a week long trip to the smokies where I ended up not really enjoying the trip at all , my buddie almost got squished twice, & I spent more money than I should have.

Time before that I went over the handlebars on my ZZR & totalled it.

here's hoping the feeling will go away in the next week or so

Yeah I do hate this as a matter o' fact. I started from NE PA headed west to Erie, stayed 2 days, then southeast to around the clearfield area, then all back roads to Gettysburg, and all back roads to about 45 mins north of DC. I stayed for a day & rode the slab back to NE PA. Weather in all areas was 10% - 15% chance of showers on all riding days. Of the 1800 miles I rode all of about 200 of it was in better than moderate rain. Made good time from Harrisburg north to Scranton though. I was doing about 75mph afraid of getting a ticket until a guy in a black mustang pulls up beside me, leans way over his girlfriend/wife/whatever  until his I could clearly see him smileing - shows me a huge grin, a huge thumps up, a state trooper badge (I'm guessing), & finally a follow me gesture. Never got below 90mph until the Dunmore split near Scranton where he pulled off & waved out the window. Best part of the trip.

I will be leaving from the Reading area.  Who else is going from around here and where will you be meeting to go?   Rodie

Hey Rodie,

I'll be going up 422 for a patch then cutting off above Reading. If you don't want to go down to Ephrata to ride, you are welcome to come with the group I have. If not, cool! Dos Equis seems like a cool dude. So either way, I'll see you up there. -Mark

True that  Thumbsup and it's already looking better for the weekend. But you have to admit, they have one of the toughest jobs. A meteorologist I know says you shouldn't trust predictions that are more than 2 days out... but it's just an indication to be aware off.

I have a plan for bad weather... it's call KLR.   Lol  I won't be in a hurry when I'm on it and that's perfect for crappy weather.

If the weather's going to be nice, I'll find some nice 350+ mile route in some twisties and sweepers to get there.

If the weather's going to be crappy, I'll find some very slow paced rural back roads (and dirt roads) to put put my way up on the KLR.

Rain...? Meh... to hear those crazy Harley owners talk, I've all but voided my warranty on the Sportster anyway by *gasp* washing my bike with a hose. Fuggit... I'm riding.

Re:  rain

I just want to be clear that my mentioning of taking the KLR over the Super Duke if it rains has nothing to do with a dirty bike.  The point is, I can't ride slow on the Super Duke and that's not good in the rain.

The KLR would limit my pace... well... because that's what it does.   Lol  Therefore, I'll most likely have a safer trip.

I have no problem with dirty / grimy bikes.  But, *you* may have violated your warranty.  Take heed.   Razz

Re: Rain

I'll ride in rain IF I have to, but it's no fun, well, maybe for a little while, maybe if I had a dual-sport...
Nah, I had one, it's still no fun, and I already washed the bike once this year, so I don't need no stinkin' rain.

10-day Weather Channel forecast says no rain.

(ok 10% chance, but that's nothing to worry about.)

Sun
Apr 20

Partly Cloudy

59° high
44° low
