I was about to say "Wow--nobody got caught in the rain???" Then I saw your report Scratch! I was sorry I couldn't be there Saturday...but glad yesterday! It rained HARD and NONSTOP...ALL DAY here in Harpers Ferry.

Scott

I washed my bike yesterday, almost all the way home, now it is extrodinarily filthy.  May have to use soap next time; excessive amounts of road spray just don't do it. Thumbsdown  The rain must have been moving southeast from Denny's; we kept running into showers and occasional downpours.  Fortunately, it was dry along the twisty section of 504, and it dried out again on 125.  Arrived home around 7:15 damp but dry and still smiling.  Saturday, though, was Be-U-T-Ful.  Thumbsup

As a first-timer at an STN gathering, I had a terrific time. Will be making more because I need to get more names and faces down - early stage alzheimers setting in Smile

BigBen and I met for the first time and rode from 209 near Bushkill Falls PA rode the heinous I80 slab. Mercifully we exited at Lock Haven and 120 to Hyner view where we met ST2Sam, Robert and Chris (whose STN names I've already forgotten).

Robert and his FJR led a tour of the north Country 144,872, 155, into Emporium, 120 to Wykoff run and other places I don't remeber Smile a couple hundred miles of relaxing riding.

The parking lot scene at the Days Inn was a blur of names and faces and awesome bikes. I was impressed with the guys hailing from Ohio, New Hampshire, New Jersey making it to central PA.

Thanks to Gary for organizing and leading a partly moist Sunday morning ride before lunch with Ben, Rick from Ohio - and I tagged along.

Great to meet you all and hope I'm not working the weekend of the WV gathering.

keep the rubber down, Bernie

Great to meet some new faces! Saturday was great, nice roads getting there and then the northern loop was sweet. Sunday was ok until the wet stuff set in. Started drizzling around 9:00 am when we took off for another northern loop then got better around Rt 120 for a while then it got steady on the way back to Denny's. I think the door prize drawings were rigged, that Chicago group walked away with all the good stuff. Lol Left Denny's and it wasn't to bad for about an hour then it came down steady and got progressively worse the closer we got to home, the last hour it was coming down in buckets. Found out this morning we got 4.5 inches of rain in our area. Definitely need better wet weather gear. Thumbsup

All,

This was a great event as a first-timer at an STN event. I expect to be back at the next one and many more to come over the years. Special thank to Garry and his team for putting the event together, and to Danny's and Days Inn for hosting us.

My ride back home was great, including the 60 miles segment in hard rain from around Lock Haven to Mansfield, PA. After that it cleared up and it nice and sunny til sunset.

I split from Chiltech500 at the intersection of i80 and rt150 and continued to rt220-15-6-11-i84-rt209 and arriving home at 8:30pm. In total I did 921 miles from the start on Saturday to the end on sunday.

I hope everybody got home save and sound.

See you on the road, ride safe and ride often.

Ben

Two questions:

1 - Where's the '08 badge?  Bigsmile
2 - For those of you who were in the lounge Sat night, what was that song the local kids "danced" to twice?  Not my type of music, but I was trying to describe the scene to my wife.

I don't know, some kinda weird electric slide/rap where the guys dance with guys and girls dance with girls, kinda scary for someone my age. I asked one of our younger riders and he wasn't sure either, thought it might be some kinda local thing. I gotta get out more. Headscratch

I'll be glad to reprise the '07 badge I did, or do we want a whole new design?

I'll do something up this evening. Not sure I can do it today at work.

I think a different design would be nice. Perhaps an ugly thunderstorm cloud with lightning and such on a bun?
