Reservations have been made for the 3rd Annual Region 6 "Meet and Eat" at Dennys Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA: home of the Worlds Largest Hamburger. Expect about 100+ riders to show up from all over the region. Most are from the Pittsburgh area, but more than a few people make a weekend of it and ride there on Saturday, spend the night at a local hotel (Days Inn?) and ride home on Sunday after lunch.

DATE: Sunday, April 20th. Show up by Noon and BS/eat/etc until 2-ish

I got the following reply from Denny when inquiring about reserving the back room for this year:

Quote

Hi, we were just talking about your group at our management meeting on 2/1/08. We will have half the building reserved: the entire top section including the dinning room. I will post notice for your event on our web site also. We are also going to offer "SPORTBIKE BURGER RUN SPECIALS" of course with some added flair  and couple of gift card drawings as some added bonus. If  there is anything further I can do let me know...

Best Regards,   Denny

Seems like a nice start to the Region 6 season to have the Burger Run in April, the Stoudts gathering in May and the National in June.  Let's hope the weather cooperates again and we have a nice turnout. A buzz is already starting in the Pittsburgh area moto forums.

Made the 2006 event, but unfortunately missed last year’s gathering; hopefully I’ll be able to make this one.  Reserved my room and will be posting a “Ride to Dennys Beer barrel” on the Central Jersey Motorcycle Riders Group.  If possible we could meet up with Ken (kendenton) and Chris (Tankhead), not sure if they are heading up again this year, and have a nice group heading up.

Thank you for setting this up again!

Anyone experience any icy conditions on their way to & fro ? I'd love to make this but don't want to slab it there.

thanks,

Weather has been very nice the first two years (both in late April). Sunny with a cool start to the day, but nice spring temps in the afternoon. I hope our good luck continues.

Weather should be good.  Hopefully there will be some heavy rain toward the end of March to wash the cinders off the roads.

Coincides nicely with Penn State's Blue & White weekend which I attend every year (downside will be more traffic in the region than usual, particularly on 80 eastbound on Sunday), so I plan to join.

In terms of weather, I've ridden 6 of the 7 past years from NYC to PSU at the end of April.  The coldest trip was stuck in the 50s with a light drizzle across central PA.  The hottest was mid-80s.  It's typically in the 70s and I've only had really bad weather once - torrential downpours that forced me to wait out a Friday night in Wilkes-barre.  The roads are usually clear of cinders and I've never seen a sign of ice even when coming in from a northerly tact (144, usually).

I am in From the Central Jersey Crew. Hopefully we all can get together like we have in the past two years at the regular meeting place in Rockaway. I will be looking to share a room to help my wallet this year since I have to spend alot of $$ on the bike for new rubber and the 12,000 service.

Randy, Trevor, Gregg, Marty, Ken, Doc,Tom lets get the riding year off to a great Start Bigok

Great first post on this Garry!  I like the feedback from Denny's, especially that they have been thinking about us and appear to be kicking it up a notch w/ some giveaways!

I'll see you there.

For those that stayed over last year, how was the Day's Inn?  Anyone staying there again?  Other recommendations?

The Mrs. and I are thinking of making this one an overnighter and would like to stay where the cool kids are staying, meet some new people, etc.

Thanks!!!

The hotel is by far not a five diamond by AAA stardard but for an overnighter it is good enough and the bulk of the STners staying there it is a great way to meet fellow riders and is is good on the wallet.

If you can get a discounted rate, stay at the Days Inn, it's not bad.

But, on my way to Ontario last year, I left home after work on Friday and made it to Clearfield.  I rolled into the Days Inn lot and expected the normal $60 / night fare.  To my surprise, I couldn't get a rate lower than $95!  Crazy

The new Holiday Inn Express across the road was only asking $105 at the time.

This Days Inn is OK at $60, but anything more and I would tell them to go fly a kite.

I'm SO there. It was great getting out to meet some of you nutballs last year, and R-Doug still owes me a beer (or I owe him one... something like that  Headscratch ) so we can compare notes on Jessica Alba!  Thumbsup

I hope our luck continues, April in that part of PA is a crap-shoot at best. Yep, the last to years (IMHO) were great.
Thanks for getting the ball rolling again Garry it's a great way to start the '08 season! Thumbsup
