Wayne Gardener and Franco Uncini have an unfortunate get together.

I don't post these because I've some bloodlust or anything like it. I raced in the mid '80s and saw some nasty shit.
Racing is hard and it can ask a very expensive price.

That brings back bad memories..I crashed in T4 at Sears Point in 1992 and got ran over by another rider..wasn't pleasant at all.

And the modern era, Rossi V. Gibernau:
Edwards V. Bayliss:
I was trying to find the Haga/Bayliss elbowing incident from '02, but couldn't dig it up.

Collisions are the one thing that really makes me nervous about racing. Crashing is bad enough, but getting hit is far worse.

Perhaps the most famous get together was never captured on film.
The 1983 Swedish GP tussle between Kenny Roberts & Freddie Spencer. The incident happened at the back of the track, so there were few witnesses. There was no TV coverage back then and there are no still photographs of the incident, so all we have are the two riders to go by. Spencer slipstreamed Roberts into the second to last corner on the last lap and pulled out to pass, but he ended up going too fast, sending both riders off into the grass. Spencer got back on the power first and took the checkered flag.
Roberts insisted it was a desperate dangerous manouver. Spencer claimed he did what he had to do to win the championship. It's still a bone of contention to this day.

At least when you get hit there is a chance you can stay up. When you crash...you have..well crashed.
BTW: I've been tagged on the track before going into the death chute....just a tad unnerving.

I meant getting hit when you are already down. Collisions are spooky, but OK if nobody falls off.
