Hmm, hope it's a lot cheaper than the KTM then.

Nope, not likely to be cheaper than the KTM.

On the other hand KTM have their own share of problems - many of which I'd much rather not deal with.

I don't know the situation in the US, but here the KTM is 5,000 euro more expensive than the F800GS. The F800Gs is about 10k w/o options, the KTM is about 15k w/o options. That makes the GS the same price as the F800ST, so that may be a good reference for the US price.

It would be great if it was the same $ as the St in the US.  Nice review, not sure why they (BMW) didn't put knobbies on it.

The F800GS and F800ST are the exact same price: $10,520.00.

The KTM 990 ADV is something like $3500 more.

Here is the vid by Tor Sagen that goes with that review...

Until you add ABS, Trip Computer, Heated Grips, Powerlet (aka, the Comfort Package), and hard cases...  That will cost another $2k at least.

Honestly, I have a deposit down on one and I have NO preconceived notions that the bike will be less than $13k pre-tax/title.

That's not really fair, cause the KTM doesn't come stock with that stuff either and you need to spend some time digging around in their accessory catalog too. So the price difference is likely to remain similar once you have both bikes the way you want it.

That looks like the combo I have been waiting for.  BMW Reliability, with lighter weight than a 1200GSA, and ohv ability that is better than the SV650.  Now I just have to let my bank account recover a little, and we'll see about getting one.

** Edit **

So now it looks like we will have to wait a little longer.
