I'm really close to making the decision: 1125R or sumpin else.  But first, a question:

Have any of you 1125ers done long rides on it?

or, is it a silly question given that it's winter?

Try asking the question here:  http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/discus.cgi?pg=topics  Lots of 1125R owners there.

I would imagine the 1125R would make a good, though not ideal, long distance bike.  It certainly will have the wind protection.  It also has the no-maintenance belt drive.  Then, it has additional range that the Firebolts do not have.  However, the riding position is something of an unknown to me right now.  If it is anywhere like the Firebolt, then I personally would install bar risers and the Lightning Pegs on it.  Doing so will bring its riding position more like a VFR.  I did that to my Firebolt and got really good results.  Definitely rideable for long distances.  I would like a bit more wind protection though.

Will bar risers work on the 1125? I thought the clipons and top clamp were all one piece.

You have to replace the whole triple clamp.

Hey DB:

I just got back from a little 160+ mile jaunt in glorious weather up here in the Seattle area.  I can say that I could easily have done a couple hundred more with no problems.  The 1125 is very comfortable for the sport bike that it is.  I also have a Ducati PS1000LE and that thing is a bit of a torture device in comparison.  I am almost 50 and tend to get stiff pretty quick if I'm bunched up too much.  So, when I was looking for a new sport bike I was looking for something that I felt would be comfortable for longer rides than the Duc.  This is one of the primary reasons that I chose the 1125, along with its power and controversial styling.  Lol

Cheers!

Good to know.  The weather where I live is pretty crumby, still, so I haven't had a chance to take mine out for a long ride.  I have an M2, also, and I get pretty stiff after about 3-4 hours on that, I was hoping that the 1125r would be better on the long trips...and now I know Smile

Thanks,
Tom
