Well at least we all know the GMAX can hold up to a minor crash/face plant on pavement.

I am usually one with an eye for a bargain. I bought and returned the Gmax (didn't fit). So I went hunting. Once again, www.newenough.com is your friend... http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/helmets/hjc/ac_12_yikes_iii_motorcycle_helmet.html
This is the TOP of the HJC line for a little less than the $109 models now out. Can't beat that for my money... and that is what is on my head.

Happy riding...

I have had the GMAX for about a month now and have nothing but praise for this Helmet.Nothing has broke, fell off,or stop working.Vents are GREAT to the point I have had to close some of them from my head gettin cold!!I have the flat silver crusader and people who dont even ride seem to like it.When it is new it is a little snug but after 2 weeks it will loosen up to fit you head like it was custom made.No hot spots anyware. For $100 you cannot beat it,in fact I sold my Shoei x-11 just wasnt wearin it anymore.

I've had my Gmax for a while now as well.  The commute has been fine.  Venting does what I need it to.  Shields are great and even the changing mechanism is pretty simple.  Couple Saturdays ago, we did a 520 mile ride and I wore the Scorpion Exo-700.  After a couple hours, my ears began to hurt.  Weird.  Great for the commute and a short ride.

This past Saturday, we did a 535 mile ride, with a bit better than 1/2 in the rain.  I wore the Gmax and it performed flawlessly.  No water came in and some of the rain had attitude.  The first stint in the saddle, I had my ER6i's in and there was still no discomfort.  For a while after I first got it, I was afraid that there would be some hot spots on my jaws where the padding sits.  Not the case.  I have the white dragon which is kinda over the top for me but it's the most visible.  I took my Arai just in case something didn't work out.  Didn't even think about getting it out.  As evening set in, I started playing with the LEDs and Kim said they're pretty cool as long as there isn't abundant daylight.

Pretty happy with this 107 dollar helmet.

...I am probably one of those people Shoei designed their RF series of helmets for as I have never met an Shoei RF helmet I didn't fit perfectly into.  Having said this, the GMAX 68S fits my head just about as good as my RF1000...

Should I get a medium GMAX gm68s if a medium Shoei RF-1000 fits me perfectly? Do the GMAX run large or small compared to Shoei RF helmets?  Thanks.

I have found the GMAX GM68S is the same as Shoei sizing.

I broke my GM68S by dropping it off my bike, twice.  It broke the hinge on the left side, and the visor on the right side.  It's just a visor, so it shouldn't affect crash safety, but it sure made for another annoying part in what was a pretty bad day.  At least it was an relatively inexpensive helmet.
