sorry, this was just too funny, my brother is a textard too, and I worry about him
Quote
Apparently, there's been a large number of injuries in England caused by boneheads walking and texting and then walking into solid objects. Rather than create some sort of Darwinian euthanasia program like I would if I was Duke or Lord or Bobby or whatever the leader of that country goes by, the Brits have decided to simply place padding around the lampposts, making them idiotproof for their populous. It's currently being tested on Brick Lane in London and if it's successful it'll spread to other cities in England. Feel free to use the comments section to bemoan what a shameful statement this makes about your country and claim that you are one of the few smart ones, Brits.

My understanding is that they have already done quite a bit to keep cars out of London.

If it makes any difference to the conversation, Brick Lane in London is the center (centre?) of the local Indian and Pakistani population. I wonder why the authorities chose that area?

And the EU has forced automakers to make more car-pedestrian crash friendly vehicles with soft hoods (bonnets) and bumpers. That's why the new Mercedes S class has such an upright front.

And why we're not allowed to have The Spirit of Ecstasy on the front of Rolls any more, they were worried about people being impaled if they get hit. Jags and Mercs were hit by that as well, 'tis sad... If I'm driving around in my Rolls you shouldn't be in front of the damn car anyway, you should be prostrate by the side of the road in awe of my imperial magnificence!

Isn't this also why they took the old front fender license plates off motorcycles in the UK? Too many pedestrians wound up singing soprano?
