I used to work for Ride Across Maryland. It's a great charity and the largest independent fundraiser for Susan G Komen in the entire world.

Recognizing that this is for charity...

I look at these events and always get put off by the idea of riding at such low speeds in a long column of motorcycles...

I like the idea of raising the money to save the ta-tas, and hell, riding the bike beats a day at the office any day... but is the ride itself as boring as it looks? Maryland's got beautiful scenery from the Ocean to Deep Creek (mostly on the edges  Lol ) but how is the ride itself? Do you look at it as just relaxing, or...?

genuine question, it looks like a long slow ride (the site FAQs aren't all that geared towards "what's the ride like?")

I've done it a couple times - there's no requirement to stay with the 'low & slow' crowd after leaving the rally point if you don't want to.   Last time, once across the Bay Bridge we split off and did our own backroads ride to O.C.

Well, in that case...

There are some great (good, but all things relative) backroads across Delmarva, too.

Its not just a ride, it's a destination event for the weekend, more like a festival (though that may constitute an overstatement.) That's the difference.
