Hi Guys,
I just found your forum, and let me say it looks like a real good bunch of guys and gals here. I'm not new to touring or motorcycling. I have had several 2000+ mile trips on a cruiser (Yamaha Warrior). The Warrior is a great bike and an absolute blast to ride but leaves a lot to be desired on the open road. Mainly the 120 mile range. I'm looking to purchase a sport touring bike. I am looking for something with a 225+ mile range and comfort to ride 600-800 mile days.

I have looked at the FJR and the Triumph sprint st. I real like both bikes but am having a hard time deciding witch one. I know that the FJR is a little more but has more goodies with it.

Well I hope to make some new friends here and on the road.

Thanks for any input.

Welcome. Bigok

Good choices in ST bikes. I had the same problem deciding between the two. The FJR seemed like a better 2up machine so that's what I went with. Had I been looking at riding solo, I would have bought the Sprint ST. Both good bikes either way.

Both good bikes but don't discount the "Connie" either.

The Connie is quite a nice bike, but I just am not that a big of a fan of the styling. Also I have been real pleased with the Yamaha brand.

In the larger ST bikes both those are good as is the connie, also the Honda ST,, less sport and more touring but still a great bike. Also the Moto Guzzi Breva 1100. Not a lot of top end power but a ton of usable power band. Bags and windshield available from Givi. And of course the Suzuki Bandit 1250,, only $8k new.

The Sprint ST is more of a middleweight (who would have thought 1050 cc's would qualify as a middleweight  Lol) whereas the FJR is more of a heavyweight sport-tourer.  Coming off a Warrior either one would probably feel pretty sporty.  I have the Sprint, never ridden the FJR, but the FJR would probably better match your idea of comfort.

Well my local dealer (he is both Yamaha and Triumph how convenient) is making my choice real easy on me.  They have two 06 Sprint STs that I can get real cheap and they haven't even ordered an FJR for 08. It's ok I think I was going to lean that way anyways. They have the 06 STs listed at $8600 out the door. I might see if I can get them to throw in the top box and heated grips I might have a new scoot soon.

congrats! nice choice! I would also go for the Triumph as it is smaller, more sporty and still gives you a nice touring bike.  In my opinion more touring than the VFR and less so than the FJR.

My cousin has a Triumph Trophy 1200,,, I hate the sound of it, all the valve train noise makes it sound like it is about to break to me.. But he never has any problems with it. He bought it because his Indian was always in the shop. The only problem he has had is finding shops that have the right tires when he wears one out on the road.
