The idea would be to have lights that function like many car light. Both lights provide hi and low beam. Should it work, this mod by itself would probably solve the lighting issue once and for all.  The questions are whether the factory HI and LOW beam wiring can cope with running dual bulbs and are projector housings are the same.  I do not know if the projector housing are both of the same design or if they are hi and low beam specific.

Weather has kept me from doing a night run to see how much of an improvement the Silverstar is in the low beam side.  If I like it I will pick up a high beam lamp and after tryign it in teh stock high beam location I will swap the bulbs left to right and see if the light pater looks the same.  If it is then the projector housing are hi and low compatible.  At that point I may look into modifying the wiring (or buying an upgraded light harness) to run dual element bulbs.

The final issue is if I can find a dual element bulb with a bent housing like the HB3 and 4 have.  I do not think a straight housing bulb will clear the forks.

The other problem is you'd have to modify the internals of the headlight assembly, wouldn't you?  You'd have to remove the shutter piece which clips the top half of the beam off the low, for one thing.

Possibly, I have not looked inside the projector assemblies.  I am actually more interested in seeing if the high side can function with a dual element bulb as the lighting from the single highbeam seems fine as it is.  That would give me 2 bulbs when running in low beam. It might require a cut out relay though as I do not think you would want, or the bulb would handle, having both elements lit up at the same time.

I am also considering something along these lines - http://electricalconnection.com/driving-lights/dl_performance.htm

I just put the Osram Night Breakers H-4 in my FJR1300.
Same wattage with increased power.

They are a considerable improvement over the stock bulbs.
Only time will tell about the usable lifetime.

UPDATE - Finally took a night ride with the Silverstar installed.  Much much better.  Plenty of light.  I think all I need now is a slight upward adjustment and all will be well.

I just passed this along in another post but here are what IR bulbs did for the Bandit. (They mount right in with a little dremmel work)

You will find that adding an aftermarket harness in the Bandit will help the most. The stock electrical is way undersized and you can tell with a voltmeter. All explained here.

I really liked the Hella Mod I did, but the I.R.s were cheap & easy.
