My other toys are radio controlled. Anyone else out there into RC?
Toy play area.
Toy for use when surf fishing and fish are not cooperating.

I spent about five years in the RC subculture. Mostly 1/10 scale off-road electric. I was the Editor at Large for Xtreme RC Cars magazine for a few years, so I got paid (very little) to assemble, test and race lots of these things. Good stuff.

Oh yessss... no recent photos, but I have a T-Maxx, an E-Maxx, a buggy, a 4wd racing sedan, a couple of helos and a few other odds and ends! Nice track you have setup there!
Ooh, I do have a shot of the car up on Flickr... it's in 1/10th scale:

Most of mine are basically stock. However, the E-Maxx has spools in both ends and is geared down for use as a crawler / trail rig and the Mini LST 2 has a Mini Monster Baja body and Castle Creations Mamba 5400 system in it. Not shown are my two old school Tamiyas. A Midnight Pumpkin and a Lunchbox.

I've got a PT-40 kit still in the box under my bed. I have an O.S. .46 AX in the shelf waiting to go into the plane. And then there's the PT-20 (or what's left of it) in the attic. By dad and I built that one when I was a teenager. I never got profficient at flying it.
I also have a Tamiya TA04 somewhere around here. There's no where to race here, and driving a car around the street gets kinda boring.
By the way, Somebuddy...that's a fantastic garage ya got there!!

I had an Associated RC10 back in the day and a few other electric 1/10 vehicles.
I'd really like to get a nitro truck or buggy in the near future.
Not mine but one just like it.

Just picked up a Traxxas Stampede and a Blade CX2 over the weekend. Waiting on replacement main rotor blades now -- do not fly in wind near trees.
The Stampede is much more fun than I thought it would be. I've taken it off some sweet jumps!

Yeah, you'll want to have a small stock of upper and lower blades handy as you'll inevitably break one. I have an original Blade CX so your CX2 might be a little different, but another point of failure that you might want to have replacement parts on hand for is the upper rotor hub. It can break in a blade strike also. A lot of guys (myself included) upgrade that piece to an aluminum part in fairly short order. Hopefully they upgraded it on the CX2 but it's worth checking on.

I let my son and his friends run it in the cul de sac jumping the curbs into all our yards while in training mode. Then I switched it to race and with the 7 cell battery the thing flies! And I still have the option of putting the high speed gear in it. For outta the box I couldn't be happier with it.
On the CX2 I ordered two four sets of upper and lower blades and the cnc upper blade mount thingy and lower blade mount thingy. Heliproz.com rocks.

It's the Xl. They didn't have the vxl and it was more or less an impulse purchase.

I think they call that "balsa overcast"
I'm attempting to learn RC Helis right now, I have a simulator but it's not quite the same as the real thing. The airplanes on the sim were spot on and I learned to fly with just the computer. But the helis are a bit more challenging.

I think you will be happy with the XL Pede. The VXL is a nice idea, but I do not see the need for it if you are just bashing around. When your Titan motors dies, consider a Venom Fireball or Team Orion Double methor R in the 15-17 turn range as a replacement. They are both under $20. and are good performers.

RRA, Get a Eflite Blade CX, they are very stable and easy to learn. It teaches you the basics making it alot easier to transition to larger more aerobatic heli's with alot higher success ratio.

I have an Esky Honey Bee FP and a Vortex coaxial that I have been using. The Vortex is a POS, the electronics are not so good. The Esky is great so far, I ordered an Esky coaxial Lama V3 the other day, I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival.
I hear good things about the blade line but they are a bit pricey for me.

Battery improvements have come a long way. I get some pretty decent run times using 3800mah batteries, but it will greatly depend on what motor you have.

The day I got my motorcycle license in 1968, I faced a hard life choice. I packed up all my favorite models and engines and put them away. I still have a Cox .049 in its original blister pack with the store label, $4.98. I occasionally go open the box, and look at it wistfully.
Then go wax and ride one of my motorcycles.

It is a little know fact that Motorcycles will actually peacefully coexist with other toys in the same garage.
