My company normally does not do shop work or installs on motorcycles, often not even my 3 motorcycles. Last year I was involved with the Multiple Sclerosis Society's bike ride (bicycle) and pledged $10,000.00 to the MS150 bike ride. To help fund this amount I did installs of the parts we offer for sale for the ST-1300, FJR-1300 and both models of the Concour's. The installs were done at my shop and at Westoc (ST Group) and WFO-6 (FJR Group) events. Basically I charged for the labor then turned the full amount over to the MS people and the motorcycle owner got a 100% write off as a charitable contribution for his donation. MCL matched the amounts collected for the installs and although we did not reach our goal we did break eight thousand dollars.
This year MCL has aligned itself with another worthy charity, The Arthritis Foundation. Again it is for a bike ride they are having this time 550 miles of bike ride ( San Francisco to Los Angeles 550 miles) and we will match every dollar collected. Sooooooooooo, If you live in So. Calif. are passing through, plan on attending Westoc, The Concour's National or the Sport Touring.Net national in Arkansas and would like us to install a MCL part on your bike just give me a call and we will set up a time that works. The cost for the installs, not the parts is deductible as a charitable contribution since I in essence, am doing the labor for free.
I will have a web page up fairly shortly on The Arthritis Foundation's web site so you can see your contributions and how we are doing. I have no affiliation or even know of anyone stricken with severe arthritis as last year when I started I had never meet anyone with MS. By the time the summer was over I had meet several customers whose family and friends had been stricken with MS and one man whose wife had it. I imagine the same will hold true for arthritis. For all of you that helped last year thanks and for those of you that will, I look forward to meeting you.
The installs are for all our riser plates, foot peg. hioghway wings, and Throttlemeister's. I will
install a Sargent seat for you to
"for free". Show up at 11:00 am and I might even buy you lunch.
Thanks For Listening
Larry
Please call me at the shop at 805 583-0373 or e-mail me direct for an appointment (not on weekends) or to bring parts to one of the events we will be attending. We will not be attending the FJR event this year we are sorry to say.
