I may chance a mid February blast to MD and back to see a new relative.  It will most likely be mostly slab since I will be limited on time.  Any thoughts on weather issues?  I was there for Christmas and it was 66 degrees out!!  I am not worried about rain and cold, just snow and ice.

Any input is appreciated.

It's supposed to be 72 degrees tomorrow. I'd say you'd be pushing your luck as far as the weather holding out. If you decide to go for it, hug the coast as much as you can.

I've ridden to Daytona from Northern VA three or four times for Biketoberfest and Bike Week.

You can easily get stuck by snow that time of year.  The first time I rode down to bike week we left at 6:00 at night, it was beginning to snow when we left (actually a dusting on the backroads), we got to Richmond and JUST skirted a major winter storm.

If the weather is nice and you have a days or so extra, go west in the Carolinas and pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway for either the trip north or the trip south.  It's a really nice road to spend all day (or two) on.
