Any new rumors if Honda is making a new Blackbird for 2009?

Yep 1400cc, inverted forks, 180rwhp, fully adjustable suspension, hard bag option, and a button on the left switch pod that makes it invisible to all LEO's Bigok

As my local dealer said again just yesterday "It will never happen" Sad

I just figured I'd throw it out there to read some new info. I think Honda's priorities have left the ST market in the USA. Oh well, I'll keep riding the heck out of my "old" bird.

It's amazing.  I'm fortunate enough to have the means to buy a new hyper-tourer ('Busa / ZX-14).  When I was looking last summer to replace my 2004 ZZR 1200, I kept coming back to the XX.  I really wanted to like the ZX14, but I just couldn't get past the looks.   Eventhough the XX hasn't been in production for 5 years and hasn't been significantly updated since '99, it was still the best bike out there for me.  Super smooth, plenty of power, great ergos, stone cold reliable, and a look that is timeless IMO.  I guess we are just lucky there are plenty of garage queen XX's out there.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath on a new version either.

Sad to say but Honda lately is all about custom cruisers, CBR RR's and the DN-01 so a blackbird no longer fits into the mold.

They didn't sell here. The marketplace dictates most of the time.

Who cares? I have a '98 w/15K miles with some nice mods and I'm still not even $5K into the bike.  And I LOVE it!  Couldn't imagine a smoother, better built, refined ROCKET!  (especially for the price).

Not b/c of me.  I'm the third owner and picked it up early Feb of this year w/14500 mi.  I've put 1K miles on it so far in the less than 2 months I've owned it.....plus putting mileage on my other bike.

I have 54K+ on my '02...  Aside from the well-known rattling cam-chain tensioner "issue" (about $30, an allen wrech and 5 minutes to replace), it's been stone-cold reliable and a real blast.

Not superior at anything, yet excellent at everything.  Couldn't ask for a better balanced piece of sport-touring machinery!

Since I just can't ever own a Busa, only another XX or maaaaybe a 14 could replace it..

I really do love mine.

I haven't ridden it all winter.  I was merging into traffic and it totally shocked me with its acceleration.  I must have looked like a rag doll. Smile

The last year of Blackbirds imported by Honda to the USA was 2003, though they continued to sell world-wide. Just not here.

The last year of world-wide production was 2007.  Doubtful we'll ever see another. Honda has simply pussed out.

Glad I still have my 2002 XX......  Thumbsup

My local Honda guy says that after years of the best Honda engineers working for the car division,  HOnda has transferred some of them back to bikes.   Another XX?  I doubt,  but I wouldn't be too surprised if the VFR gets a proper update.

On the other hand,  Honda might figure it's cutting edge image is getting blasted out there by Suzuki and Kawi, and they may develope one as an marketing thing.    (I can dream can't I)

Hey Warchild,   I thought you were developing a LD Busa to replace the XX? ..............TRAITOR.

No, no... I am experimenting a little to see if the Busa could be a viable LD mount.   Bigsmile

And, truth be told, thus far it is looking less than good. Had another 2000-mile jaunt this past weekend on the 'Busa.... I am seriously re-thinking my earlier plan to bring it to the Utah 1088 this year. The bike becomes kinda uncomfortable somewhere around 600-miles.... that's about 1/3 of the mileage I expect to see at this event.

There is every chance that I will be on the Blackbird when I pull up to the Start Line in Salt Lake City sometime in late June.   Wink
