I liked my 99 XX so much that after it's demise due to a left-turner, I went out and bought another! This time it's a 2000 and hardbags all around. I just w'ant dun likin' it I s'pose.

Yup, I gots wheels again and it's about time. Riding the wife's B12 was, well, fun, but I needed my own ride. The PO did 'er up nice with lots of touring goodies, but the colour-matched hardbags made the sale for me. The photo below is a sorry excuse for a profile shot on delivery day, but I should have some new ones if I get a nice day this weekend.

And it's in that faster BLUE colour,

The blues must be faster 'cause their speedos go all the way to 320!

Going to, and actually getting there are two different discussions. Lol

FJR Riders are experts at not getting to where they're going.   Twofinger
But even FJR's are faster in Canada.

Holy crap, ATW, you were going Mach .72

(assuming 15 C and an altitude of sea level, of course.)

It's amazing.  I'm fortunate enough to have the means to buy a new hyper-tourer ('Busa / ZX-14).  When I was looking last summer to replace my 2004 ZZR 1200, I kept coming back to the XX.  I really wanted to like the ZX14, but I just couldn't get past the looks.   Eventhough the XX hasn't been in production for 5 years and hasn't been significantly updated since '99, it was still the best bike out there for me.  Super smooth, plenty of power, great ergos, stone cold reliable, and a look that is timeless IMO.

Pretty much sums up how I feel about mine, I don't see anything out there that stirs any emotion from me in regards to wanting to own. This bike is like a fine wine that just seems get better over time well at least to me. Inlove

Thinking much the same,  I dropped the big bucks for a suspension revamp.   Now it rides better than a newer machine.

I am very pleased with my 02' Bird. The 1.0 kg. Race Tech forksprings with 5 wt. oil seems to be the cats ass. The VFR clip-ons make it very comfortable, as do the footpeg lowering brackets. I also love the OEM panniers for not only the storage, but the sleek look also. In the future I would like to upgrade the rear shock to an Ohlins, or Penske. This is without a doubt the best motorcycle I have ever owned in 28 years of riding on the street. I really don't care anymore if Honda ever makes another hyper sport tourer like the CBR 1100XX. This machine does everything that I want it to.

I think I'm going to go that way with my forks, I already have the VFR bars and the lowering brackets (def the way to go). I also am leaning towards the Penske shock once I save up enough pennies Lol
I agree that I'm not to concerned with Honda making a replacement this one has hit all the points I want in a bike quite nicely and look forward to putting on as many miles as posssible. Thumbsup

GP suspension in Portland, Or. did excellent work on my Bird,  if you tell them Warchild sent ya, you get a discount.
