I haven't ridden the 1088, this June will be my first, but in 2006 I road in the Northwest Passage Rally (5 days) and the Land of Enchantment 1000 (LOE 1000) in New Mexico. These events are packed with fun and lots of out of the way places, great roads, and plenty of challenge. Come prepared with warm clothes for night riding, water for the desert, and a good attitude. You will be challenged and after it's over, you will be hooked and want more. A GPS is a good idea as are aux. lights for those dark nights. A fuel cell isn't required. A polaroid camera is a staple of endurance riding, to get credit for your bonus locations. The Utah 1088 is the premier 24 hour event. Many Iron Butt Rally veterans and 2007 Iron Butt Rally riders will be in attendance, It's a good opportuinity to gain valuable information and experience from people that have "been there and done that". Come join the fun.

I can vouch for the the Northwest Passage Rally. I manned every checkpoint during it's inaugural year. Just getting everywhere and having each place set up in time before the riders got there was a challenge. Participation sent people through rain and hale and fire (the big one that covered several states back in 2000). Coming up on a couple of rally riders at 3am, in a town that was nearly evacuated due to the fires in the area was a hoot. They were stopping at every gas station and milking the hoses to get a little gas to get them to the next little town. When we pulled up they thought we were the owners and looked like a cat caught swallowing a canary. We had a 5 gallon can of gas that they split between the two of them. That got them to a town with an open gas station.
What an adventure!

I hit fires on two of the three legs of the '06 NWP Rally. Joe IS the man, and every time he puts on an event I will ride out from Colorado to attend. One of the best experiences of my life.
