Hi folks. A buddy of mine is looking for a Blackbird and found one on the internet at Riverside Honda in St. Albert. It's a blue 2000 with 11,500 kms on it. Does anybody have any information on this bike?

I think Bax lives in St. Albert. Try PMing him.
Otherwise, I can make a trip.

Hi ATW:
I received your posting too late in the day but I had my friend who works for Riverside Suzuki go do some digging. (he is a bike enthusiast by the way)
Anyway, here is the story on the bike...
They actually have two of them.
They have the 2000 with 11500 km on it asking $8,000.00
They have a 2002 with 23000 km on it asking $9,000.00
One of them has heated grips.
Now both these bikes are in their storage facility right now where only staff are allowed to visit. The bikes are not in the showroom. My friend will be down there on Monday and will have a look at both bikes & give me a call back & tell me what he thinks.
Riverside Honda has a pretty small floor space so in the fall they clear out most of the bikes & make room for Quads & Ski doo's.
I will report back just as soon as he gets back to me.

I have P.M.'d you also.
I am heading up North this morning and not sure how much internet access I will have so I sent you my friends E mail. Just in case I am unable to get back to you.
As mentioned, he works for the "other side" & will give you a fair rundown of what the bike is like.

I think I've seen the 02 one last summer, if it's the one that their old parts manager had, it's in perfect shape. I made an offer, but he's wasn't too desperate to sell. Can't blame him, the BLUE XX's are the fastest and the prettiest.
There's not much different between the 00 version and the 02 other than electronic gauges and a taller windscreen.

I believe he contacted someone. The latest word is that he's nervous about buying from a dealer so far away. I figure he's going to keep looking around locally. Thanks for the effort. He was rather impressed with the networking capabilities of this board. Actually, so am I. This is very cool.

I can tell you that Riverside are a very good dealer. My cousin bought his bike from them, (Honda side) and they have treated him like gold.
I deal on the Suzuki-Yamaha side (same owner) and they treat their customers like family. You are treated on a 1st name basis there if you vsist on occasion.
Honda has gone to the one big store concept here in Alberta (Cars, bikes, lawnmowers) and rumor is that in 2008 the small Honda dealers will all disapear here.

Against The Wind:
I did hear back from my buddy who informed me that both of the Birds they have would be considered mint with the 2002 being just a bit nicer. (Equipped with heated grips)
It appears that this is the same one that Birdrunner saw there previously as it is the blue one.
Both are in fantastic shape though.

Buying a Blackbird is generally risk free. I bought mine sight unseen, though it did have extended warranty.
The bike's are bullet-proof. They were Honda's flagship model. The user demographic is such that they're well treated. It's not a squid's bike of choice. Your friends only problem is to figure our how many provinces and states he wants to hit on his ride home.

I got this from my buddy.
Hey Richard...thanks...looks like I will be sticking to the 600cc range for best insurance rates...and my budget !! and get a year unbder my belt of driving insured with bike.
The blue blackbird in Alberta....has a dent in the tank and mark in one exhaust. The silver 2002 is mint and only 20,000 klm but Duffy says( for me ) it's three times the cost of a Katana or SV650 Suzuki.and State Farm doesn't like my one ticket of one year ago...speeding ..minor no points...but $500.00 bucks to the yearly rate for me...$1818.60 for the blackbird !!

I was quoted 2200 + on a Busa. Any thats with 33 years riding experiance & no tickets or claims for 7 years.
They were kind to the FJR, I am getting full coverage for $740.00, which was the same as the Bandit.
You may want to suggest a Bandit to your friend, they slip right under the insurance companies radar screen. I sat on the new ones, very nice!
