I am kicking around the idea of streaming video in real-time of my SS1000 ride next month.  Seero.com allows you to stream video directly to the web and would be using that site to do it.  I am into video blogging and have been doing so for over a year now, so I'm thinking of trying something new.  I usually talk throughout my videos, but obviously there would be some dead air at times.  I might pipe music from my IPod into stream when I run out of crap to talk about.  What do you guys think?

EDIT: I forgot to add that you watch the video along side a map that updates in real-time where I would be riding so you can see my progress on the map.

I'm all in favor of you riding a SS1K. But nobody in the world, with the possible exception of your mother and your wife, wants to hear you babble for 1000 miles. Shoot the video, say something that's actually interesting or insightful once in awhile, and then make an edited video with the highlights.

maybe you'll find a sponsor and have a good sell; people watch all kind of reality crap I can't believe they do. It is unlikely you'll find any peeping Toms here; this is mostly do-it not watch-it forum, IMHO; good luck on your ride, gambate!

Well, I did my first SS1k last fall, and as much as I enjoyed it ,yself, I can't imagine anyone who would be interested in watching more than 90 seconds of it.  Even my wife and mother.  Makes for real boring TV.

That, kind sir, is being kind to the point of absurdity.  Lol

Yeah.  For a blog, you're better off finding a quick way to clip to the interesting bits and post up.  Besides, I don't think any streaming video site would host that many GB of video footage.

I applaud you for floating the idea to everyone before attempting. But I can only hope that the reason you are doing this ride is from a personal standpoint, for your own accomplishment and achievement. Being 54 years old, the reality tv/video crap makes me truly fear for our culture. How shallow my existence to wish to watch you drone through however long it takes you to complete your SS1000??? I would rather have a colonoscopy with a garden hose from a first year med student.

This doesn't mean I and probably many others would not enjoy a well written ride report with a couple of pictures of the highlights. This would be enjoyable and I for one would offer a well intentioned congratulations for your effort. Remember, reality tv/video is like internet access on the front of your refrigerator, just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done.

So there's this webcam - it's piped in from some guys hunting feeder.  Basically, it's just a photo-upload every 5 seconds or so.

It's amazingly stupid, really.  Just a flippin' auto-feeder that goes off twice or three times a day.  But damn, every now and again around twenty minutes before/after the feeder goes off all craziness ensues.

It's stupid fun.  And next thing you know it's 20 minutes later.

I think it's a cool idea.  I wouldn't want to watch it straight through, but I would check in to see where you are.
I saw one vid clip of a guy who took a picture every 10 minutes or so on an autotimer and then pieced it all together.  24 hours compressed into 140 or so pix.  It was really cool.

Anyway, I'd watch it a bit, check in every hour or so to see where you are.

Most of the above.

A SS1000 is a personal thing, and not really that big of a deal.  IMO.

However, if you did it with a live rooster in your tank bag while drinking a fifth of tequila (Gotta finish the fifth before 900 miles) then I'd watch.  The last 100 miles anyway.

Nothing on the internet is private or secure.  How would you like people like the LEO's and your insurance company following this?  I would say it is a bad idea.

personally, vidcam just the highlights. i've taken video of Nemo Road at the speed limit and it was SOOOOO boring i cut it down from 56 mins to 21 mins and it STILL had too much boredom. some of my coworkers liked it cause they could see certain roads to figure out hunting grounds. but that was about it. i was gonna post it as a safety vid for the base cycle club, but when i watched it, there were a few times that the speedo was reflected off the windscreen and it sure wasn't reading 55 mph.  Lol
