Much as I love Laverdas I think this was an exceptionally high price. Someone on the Laverda list said that he had seen the bike a while ago and that it was not in very good condition, a non-runner. I hope someone hasn't paid big bux for an old nail. Of course a genuine SFC is always going to fetch a good price even as a basket case, but for that money I would expect it to be in as-new condition.

I'd say both, Orson. If I had that kind of money to blow on a collector's moto I'd do it in a heart beat.  Thumbsup

The winning bidder ID is 69miura (Lambo) so I'd say it is most likely a serious collector Headscratch

Lovely looking bike.  Crazy money.

SFC has good 'classic' credentials (whatever that means) but increasingly, even the most grey porridge old bike seems to fetch daft money.  Older Jap 'classics' seem to be fetching increasingly good money here in Europe too..........

Hell, japanese classics are going for mad money here in Seattle. You can't find a 400-Four for less than $2k period. CB6xes go for $5k and up. 'Course with the Cretins and the the other 'classic' bike clubs/gangs/wannabes that are populated with tech company employees here it's not surprising. Those yutzes have to find cred where they can.  Rolleyes The only bikes those of us with no money can find are totally pounded.
