I need to get my textile Olympia pants hemmed and taken in at the waist. Anybody know any places in the Chicago area that will do this type of alteration? The lady I tried in Warrenville didn't have a sewing machine that could handle it.

Not too local, but an option. HIGHLY recommended.

Whereabouts are you in the Chicago area? Look under leather repair in your yellow pages. Sometimes, a shoe repair shop will have the sewing machine needed to fix leathers and such.

It's not the destination, but the journey, that counts. A sport-tourer's ride between two points is seldom a straight line. He will often seek the most convoluted route possible.

I'm in the western 'burbs, specifically Glendale Heights. I think there's a place in the Startford Square Mall that does alterations, but I thought I'd ask for recommendations first.

There's a place I would recommend if you lived in Northern Illinois. It's Kelly's Leather Works in Richmond. It's just a block south of Rt. 173 on Rt. 12.
