 I picked up an 02 Bandit 1200S about a 2 months ago. Love the bike, but think at the end of the season I will put a slip-on and jet kit on it to elininate the lean condition in the lower rpms.  Anyone out there have some feed back on the slip-on they are using.  I do not want some thing loud, but I realize it will, by necessity/design, be louder than the stock can.

Probably a Yoshimura since they have such an extensive relationship with Suzuki.

I have a full Yosh RS3 system I just took off of a 2002 Bandit 1200s that I'm thinking about selling. (header, midpipe and can) along with the jet kit. Would all go for about $800 new. I'd take $250 plus shipping, though I have no idea how I'd pack the thing up.

I have a Holeshot can and midpipe which I like.  At one time, it wasn't marvelously loud at all - this has changed over the years and it's in need of repacking.  But I like the results of the jet + can combo.  Look for the "street core"

I'm an old guy who lives in a quiet subdivision  Smile

Plus, this is my "re-entry" bike and the boss wasn't too happy about how "fast" it sounded.

It's definitely slower and less responsive, but I'm not going to be dragging any knees or anything, so the stock setup works fine for me.

Buckeye  -You have a good point. This Bandito is also my re-entry bike (about 10 years since I had a scoot).  I may end up just doing the jet kit to smooth out the bottom end and leave the stock pipe in place.  I do not want or need a pipe that makes it sound like I am johnny joe racer.

What I would really like to see is a dual set up, but I do not believe one is made. I just like the symmetry of a pipe on both sides. My last bike, 87 Radian, had dual pipes and looked very nice.

I had the street core in a quiet subdivision, and it was fine.  The pipe had the good graces to stay moderately quiet until after I'd moved back into the city.  Now I just blend into the background.

Which is why I went the after-aftermarket route (used, from Maximum Suzuki I think) which also explains why it needs repacking so soon after I bought it.

I had a Yoshi Race TRS on my 02, along with an Ivan's jet kit.

The Yoshi sounded very nice but if I were to do it all again I would have bought the Street version (a bit quieter). The Ivan's jet kit added untold grunt to the bike also.

I have out grown aftermarket pipes I think though. It really started to get to me on long rides.

i went with a scorpion "bolt on" on my 02

not too loud
looks WAY better
adjust air mixture screws only
runs much better than stock

Props for my Holeshot 17" Street model. It sounds fantastic and bumped power nicely (with a stage 1 kit).

You need to make at least the adjustment Dred mentioned or you gain virtually nothing in performance. In fact, it exacerbates the factory lean condition. Open the exhaust side, open the intake side. Some Bandit owners actually do just the jet kit for better cold startup and response.

Truth.  Welcome to the land of "Popping on Decel" if you don't.  

I did go with a jet kit initially, but ended up too rich for the stock airbox.  Replaced the stock jets and just bumped up the needles.  I think further tweaking would have made a nice difference, but at that point I was just sick of taking the carbs off.   Rolleyes  Yes, I am a lazy person.

I had a 21 in. street core Holeshot pipe on my Bandit until a few weeks ago, that's about the quietest aftermarket can you can find I think. As long as you leave the snorkel and air filter stock it will run fine without a re jet. I'm also to lazy to be screwing around with carbs and jetting though if you want a significant HP boost that's what you need to do. With just the pipe you'll gain a little seat-o-the-pants top end, it sounds great though. I took it off and went back to stock because I leave for work at O dark thirty and though the pipe wasn't loud per se` it was louder than stock, plus I'm anal about gas mileage for my $4.04 a gallon and stock gives me around 43.5 if I ride reasonably

I would really recomend re-jetting the Bandit. You can get an easy 10 hp off the 2nd gen Bandit with a pipe & jet kit. It really is not difficult to do if your handy.

Personally, I'd settle for an overall loss of HP if it meant a gain of 10 MPG at this point.  I'm thinkin about changing the gearing this summer, acksherly.
