Ok, at what price per gallon will you consider something like this, or an older model (4stroke of course) for commuting? They claim up to 115 MPG.

Heck, if I didn't have to commute in insane freeway traffic I'd be on one now.  Need something that can get out of its own way - a 250 at the very minimum.  And when you get to that CC range, a motorcycle's as good as a scooter.

Saw a Honda Helix yesterday with "72 MPG" taped across the back using hardware-store letters.  I lol'ed.

I have ridden a few 50cc scooters like that before..  They are so slow, I think I'd get run-over by the Amish horse and buggies.  Joggers would point and laugh as they passed me.

Seriously though - I'd rather ride my bicycle.

Well I'd definitely lose some cool points but I wouldn't mind something like that to run back and forth to work.  My commute is only 2.5 miles so the XX barley gets warmed up...

I like the Honda Big Ruckus and the new 3 wheeled Piaggio MP3 looks like it would be a blast to ride.

Gas would have to be at around $2.00/litre ($7.57/gal) to really effect my budget.

The Honda Helix is a 250cc scoot actually..  Long before I had a motorcycle, (high school days) a friend of the family let me borrow it for the summer since he had a back injury.  They will do 70mph+!  His even had a Honda/Kenwood stereo with digital tuner..  yeah, I was pimpin back then.  I remember it was a 1986 model.

Yeah I would definitely consider a 250cc scooter like the Helix, or even a 100-125cc model.  Thumbsup

I'm already considering it.  I originally thought Ruckus, but now I'm leaning towards something else.  If it works out, I'll announce it here with an epic purchasing ride.   Thumbsup

I ride to work on one of these...

a KYMCO Bet & Win 150.

I get 60mpg+ at speeds of 65-70MPH (GPS verified). I actually had a guy in a Volkswagen Corrado stop me the other day to tell me how impressed he was at how my bike hauls balls. Handles like a champ as well. I love riding it.  Bigsmile

We have a pretty sweet deal here in the True North Weak n' Wobbly.
Honda Canada will sell you a CB125RR, with a 3 year warranty, roadside assistance, Joe Rocket jacket, pants, and gloves, for $3499 CDN. That's two g's less than a Vespa 150. A real looker too!  Thumbsup

I still like the scooter better though. I can wear my normal work shoes (sure it's not as safe) since I don't have to shift. I also don't have to worry about my pants getting dirty or anything like that since it's a step-through.

You should see the groceries I can haul home on that sucker too! I wish I would have had my camera the other day. I had a whole cart full in/on that sucker. Thank you reusable Mejer bags!
