May 8th, 2008: I believe I am about done prepping this for competitive Endurance Riding events.

Does this bad-boy here look like it is ready to hit the road for the LONG HAUL?!!!

The latest additions are the Ventura Bag (pretty much solved the carrying-capacity issue), and the insulated 1-gallon Drinking Jug you see sandwiched between the Ventura Bag and the Aux Fuel Cell.

Note the drinking tube that runs forward to a janitor's lanyard on the tankbag. When I want a drink, I just pull the end of the tube to my mouth and take a big swig, the let go of the tube and the lanyard returns it to the tankbag side, ready for the next drink. When you run the Desert West here in the summer, you really, really appreciate the opportunity to pound down ice-cold water in the hot blazing desert....    Thumbsup

Also got the Pro-Oiler completely dialed in; it is soooooo sweet! It was a complete bummer that Suzuki eliminated the centerstand option on the K8 (as far as lubing the chain goes). The Pro-Oiler eliminates that as a concern.   Twin nozzle dispenser placed oil right where it's needed to disperse oil equally by centrifugal force:

Oil level after 1500 miles... lean but not too lean, with o-rings nice and moist:

Also finished up a nice clean install of a Hella 12v female connector for using a Warm-N-Safe liner. This connector receives its power from the *output* side of a Heat-Troller:

With the tankbag in place, the Warm-N-Safe power cord never has the opportunity to contact the bodywork paint... sweet.

Departing tonight after sundown for another long-range strike in northern California/western Nevada to scout bonus locations for the upcoming Cal 24 Endurance event. Gonna be coooooold at night, hot during the day... typical mid-spring weather in the Sierra Nevada Range.

Can't wait!   Banana

Nice set-up! Thumbsup

How much gas are you carring in your aux cell?

This cell is off my FJR, so it can insert 4.9 gallons when it's level on the centerstand. However, since the Busa only has a side-stand, I can only insert ~ 4.5 gallons. This gives me a total of 10.0 gallons of onboard fuel. The resulting range is dependent on how frisky I was for that particular tankful. In max "conserve" mode, I have ~ 430-ish miles. If romping up and down the Basins and Ranges of Nevada, it's more like 320 miles before the Low Fuel light illuminates....

Rolleyes  Shyeah, right.   In the desolate Nevada outback, I can afford the 90 seconds it takes to pull to the side of the road and let fly. There are enough funky liquids on the roadway without some assclown using a catheter to deposit more...  Thumbsdown

Any changes to the rear suspension?

Still with the stock shock (it's a '08 model w/ less than 10K on it), but I did bump up the pre-load a little. While it may look like a lot of stuff back there, you'd be surprised at the actual weight: the aux cell, fully fueled, is only 42 lbs. And there is nothing but fluffy clothes and other bulky but light items in the Ventura bag, it is about 15-18lbs.

So it's only ~ 60 lbs at the most - kinda like carrying a child pillion.  Thumbsup

No problem... will do!  I'll post them all on the 15th, how's that?   Wink

Very neat Dale, I have a mate here who knocks out the klms who rides a Busa. He did one of my FarRides in Feb for an easy 2044klms stock with his dog (he is well known for this)

Needs more Cowbell!

Otherwise, it ROCKS!

Is there a valve on the water line? Looks like it could siphon when full.

Looks great!  Nice use of the extra real estate on the black plastic panels.  Your install looks like they ought to be made that way.  I am a little curious about your seat choice.  I can't quite read the name on the side.  Does it allow for movement, or lock the rider in?  Thanks for your thoughts.

You're missing the most important farkle, Dale.

You need a pair of dangly balls to hang down under the license plate.

That's one bad-assed machine.

Are you riding that down to WORD?

Is it wrong to say your Busa is one of the sexiest bikes I have seen?  I love them...

Amazon.com..... found an awesome deal on new-in-box set for $480. I was loathe to pay the $730 retail.

No.... I went away using my FJR for Endurance events; I've strictly used the CBR1100XX for that duty for the past 4 years.

Until this riding season, that is....  Bigsmile   And truthfully, I'll likely go back to the XX for Endurance Riding purposes after this year; I am just playing/experimenting with LD riding on the Busa this summer.

I thought botched laser surgery hashed your eyeballs too bad to ride competitively any more.   Headscratch  Have they improved on their own, were the docs able to re-do them, or do you just use the Force when the sun goes down?   Shrug

Oh yeah...SWEET setup!!   Bigok
