Wow, I can't believe this is a two-page thread!  

If I'm moving a bike without intending to ride it right away, I stand beside it, grip the handlebars (or alternately the rear rack with my right hand - left hand still on left grip) and push it gently off the C-stand.  If I'm riding off, I sit astride the bike, both feet on the ground and gently push forward on the handlebars - the bike easily moves forward off the stand.  

This has been the case with every bike I've owned and includes the wife's new F650GS...

Are there really people out there who've been riding for a while who don't do/know of this? Headscratch
