Found these on an Italian site.

http://www.motoblog.it/post/13609/ducati-monster-s4r-1098-ipotesi-francese

Translation?  Further info?  I know a lot of us have been waiting to see what the 696 restyling would look like on a bigger Monster...

Ok, that site linked to http://www.motorevue.com/site/ducati-monster-s4r-1098-31981.html , a French site, and it appears that the pics originated from them.

This would be hard to resist for sure.  :leghump:

Here's what Google's translator does to the site:

The range Ducati is to enlarge?  For ipotizzarlo the French Motorevue. According to the voice coming of oltralpe seems that Ducati is thinking to power the Monster S4R with powerful twin-cylinder 1098. Motorevue, in addition to propose an evocative design in six different variations of colors, assumed equipment with circles Marchesini and grips to addacco monoblock Brembo radial.

The cavelleria assumed available to the naked di Borgo Panigale is 150 hp to 160 kg dry.

That is a great looking bike!!! Cool

That much power to weight ratio with a proper Olins suspsenion would be AWESOME.

I can dream. Inlove

The white one is cool because it actually looks like what a 1098 "s" Monster might look like.

I see the GP9 has a carbon fibre frame, ie no trellis tubes, so we may start seeing a slow but sure shift to c/f frames, for the superbikes anyway, which should make a much cleaner looking "naked" bike further down the road if the c/f frame works well. More engine to see that way.  Thumbsup

CF frames on production bikes is a BAD idea.  A tiny chip in the clear coat and some UV light could cause a catastrophic collapse of the frame.  I also find it weird that they are allowing a carbon frame when they won't even allow carbon wheels to be used, which have been around for a while now (and occasionally explode).

I do think it's a badass technology, but I wonder how they can make it work for general consumption.

BTW,

On one hand I have to agree with you on Carbon Fiber for frames, but I do remember back in 84 when the aluminum framed GSXR 750 debuted, at the time, I didn't think aluminum was a good idea for a street bike, I guess that I was wrong on that one Wink

What were the reasons why alunimum wasn't thought to be good?

Also for those who bitch about their GSX-R frames breaking in a crash now...think about a CF frame. Smile

I just don't like the plastic fuel tank cover with little air ducts.  I like the classic trellis frame + steel fuel tank.  Unless you wanna have a fiberglass tank with the see thru strip.

Not a 1098-based Monster, but some spy shots of a Monster 1100.

I guess they are starting with the 2-valve engines instead of the 4-valve ones.  Updated S2R instead of S4R.  Shrug

I think that even with a SSSA this is the regular Monster 1100 not the S2R 1100. I love it Inlove

I'd think an 1100 monster would be great bike. I really enjoyed that engine when I tested a Hypermotard. This appears to have the dry clutch and higher end brakes and clutch master cylinders that the Monster 1000 had. Can't tell if the suspension is fully adjustable which it was on the Monster 1000.
