Will be heading up thru Cumberland around lunch time tomorrow with a small group. Any suggestions for a non-fancy, fairly inexpensive place to eat that is not part of a food chain?
Nothing like last minute planning....

Fred Warner's restaurant in La Vale, MD used to be an excellent little local place to get some great German food. But the last time I went past it, it looked closed.

Fred Warner's always looked closed to me..
I have to agree though, GREAT German food!!!
I was trying to get a ride together to hit the Road Kill Cafe. It's supposed to be on Route 26, just north of the PA. line. Road is really twisty there too!!

We've always had a tough time finding places in that area, try ChowHound or one of those sites.

Rt 26 eh? Not that I need an excuse to hit a twisty road, but going down a twisty road AND looking for food sounds like a win-win situation.
