Slip ons, ?

OK, let me start over. I would like to put a pair of slip ons on my 02' XX. Mainly for weight savings, slight rumble, and any torque gains. I had my mind made up on carbon fiber, but, since my OEM panniers will stay on the bike, I don't think its worth it to spend the extra $, since you won't see them very well. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the carbon fiber vs. titanium vs. aluminum ? Correct me if I'm wrong but the aluminum will probably be as light as the cf or titanium ? Will aluminum cans last as long as the cf & titanium ? By the way, I don't want a loud exhaust, so that rules out D&D. I would also like a pair of slip ons that has the stainless steel internals so I won't ever have to repack. All replies welcome!

I put Scorpion TI slipons on my 14 because they state that with the stainless and ceramic internals they never need repacking. The sound has mellowed, or I'm getting deafer, with the 3k miles on them. I found them on the web for half what the catalogs listed them for. I stayed away from carbon because I had heard you can blow them up with bad backfiring or popping. As for whether TI is stronger and lighter than other materials, not sure, but I think they use various thicknesses for the different materials so that the strengths are pretty much the same.

Yes - Leo Vince. I have had them on my FJR for 2.5 years and they sound GREAT...

Thanks for the info on the Leo Vince, but they don't make any slip ons for the CBR1100XX anymore. If anyone knows of a retailer who might have a pair laying around, (99 & up Blackbird) please let me know. Thanks!

Well, you just have to ride a bike from the last millenium now don't you???
Good luck finding some Leos for your 'Bird as they would sound very good on it.

Can anyone tell me "who", is the largest Leo Vince dealer in the US ? I wouldn't mind giving them a call to find out if there are any LV slip-ons for sale anywhere.

I've seen Leo Vince's (and just about any major manufacturer's pipes that you can imagine) on Blackbirds. Not the easiest to find since the Bird wasn't exactly the most common bike in the US, but they ARE out there..

that's what I have. I like 'em - lighter than stock, fairly quiet around town, yet they have an awesome roar from 6-7K rpm on up!!

My Bird is an 02', but from 99' up they are all fuel injected. I am trying darn hard to find a pair of Leo Vince aluminum SBK slip-ons for my XX. If anyone can help me locate a set, please chime in ! Thank You.
