A weekend of riding and fun ...

Friday Night meet and greet at bubba's house in Castlegar for Sausages, Bevvies and of course ... (giggle) .. "The Borscht" !!!  Bigok

Anti gravity Monkeybutt fixers readily available

The "Burn !!!"
Saturday morning riding options are numerous and can be discussed Friday night. Some examples are ....

Pass Creek road to Crescent Valley over to Highway 3A through Nelson and along Kootenay Lake to Kaslo.

From Kaslo on the amazingly twisty and newly paved, Highway 31A to New Denver.
DH5 Destination Highways says " Up one series of rivers and down another, past the crumbling ghost towns of the Silver Rush, it’s sometimes a tight squeeze through the mountains between New Denver and Kaslo. Demanding? Yes. But if you haven’t ridden this classic, you haven’t ridden B.C."

From New Denver on Highway 6 through Nakusp to Fauqhier across Arrow Lake on the free ferry and then continue on the nearly traffic free Highway 6 all the way to Lumby for lunch. We will return on Highway 6 in the opposite direction all the way to Castlegar. DH2 Destination Highways says "An enormously varied riding experience, it ranges from farmland to wilderness, canyon to mountain summit, and tight narrow twisties to long, leaning sweepers. This road is so quiet, ranchers herd cattle on it. "

Needles Ferry
Route across the Lower Arrow Lake, about 59 kilometres south of Nakusp on Highway 6, between Fauquier and Needles.
Daily, year-round schedule; 5:50 am to 10:30 pm
From Fauquier: 6.00 am to 10.30 pm, every half hour, on the hour and half hour.
From Needles: 5.50 am to 10:15 pm, every half hour, quarter before and quarter after.
Crossing time: 5 minutes.

"The BBQ!!!"
Saturday evening we head out to the alphabet man's splendid cottage on 100's of acres of some of the nicest waterfront in the world on the shores of pristine Arrow Lake for the famous Kootenay BBQ and Bonfire Follies !! It would be wonderful if folks who are attending the BBQ could chip in $15 -$20 for goodies. Of course, we will use any leftovers for good Kootenay beer !! - Many thanks.

The Cabin on Arrow Lake

Sunday morning, your hosts will escort many of you on your way home as you bid a fond farewell to the splendor of the Kootenays.

Friday night last year - can you say happy?!  Bigsmile

If you have room in the house (on something upholstered!  Razz) I'll take that, otherwise I can pitch my tent in the back yard or at the park if necessary.

Do we need breakfast sausage with or without pancakes this time?

ZED & I have had that weekend blocked off on the calendar since you first set the date!  Thumbsup

How much interest is there in a dual sport ride on the 31 along Trout Lake?  I think we measured about 100km of gravel along that route with the UniMoG at Easter.  I'll be on my KLR regardless, but ZED will have to decide which bike to ride!!! Smile

I'll be in again.  Just have to decide which bike to bring.  Decisions are tough.  Wink   A place inside would be nice otherwise I will camp in your yard or your park.

Yes,  Colleen and I will attend,   accommodations would be appreciated, however a tent spot in the back yard is sufficient.

Hi Bubba and the rest of the Kootenay crew!
Liked the 2007 BBB so much,I wouldn't dare to miss it this year.
So, if I may ...sign me in, please.
I've bought hard cases for the Versys, so I can haul some czech beer to the Kootenays.
Otherwise I can pitch my tent anywhere ( backyard, camp)....have only one request: turn the "Kootenay furnace" down a bit for that weekend please....
Thanks Vratya.

Oooo...the roads look fantastic, as does the borscht.

If I can get that Friday off I'm in; just need tent space and a fire for my camping espresso maker.

I'll try to make it, but I can't be sure yet. I've got a bunch of family responsibilities this summer that could derail things. In the meantime I'll make a motel reservation just in case.

I'll also use this opportunity to recommend against the Cozy Pines Motel based on my experience last year. They were particularly unhelpful after my crash, and when Bubba kindly offered to let me stay at his house until my wife could drive out with the truck to get me, they refused to give me any kind of a refund on nights booked, even with more than 24 hours notice.
