I call the day a great success.

5 tires changed
Handle Bar risers put in
Hot grips installed other electrical work put in
Battery swapped out

Good Breakfast
Great grilled lunch
Laughter was plentiful
Tire kicking talk

Shared knowledge and hands got dirty.

If your not riding this is the only better way to spend a Saturday.

Thanks Denny.....

Dave,
You are welcome!  I think everyone had a good time.  Glad to hear you made it home ok.  We got Cheddar  on the road about 6:30 or so.  He would of been on the road a bit sooner had I not locked his keys in the fairing pocket.  Who puts their keys in a locking fairing pocket!  Oh well, we got em out, but what  way to cap the day off.

Cheddar, I hope ya missed the bad weather on the way home.

Denny, Dave and anyone else who picked up a wrench to help me: THANKS!

Imagine a 4 hour tire change! Well after pulling two mufflers, one bag and various other parts in the way the big Valkyrie has a new rear tire.

And if it hadn't been for Denny's lift with a trap door, I'd have taken off half the rear fender as well.

Hope someone got a pick of the shovel (garden variety) as tire lift or a picture of Denny with a tie-down strap popping the bead on my new Avon.

And to top off a great day, I ran out of gas on 173 just in front of the Citgo station. I gas my odo had stuck and I just didn't know that I needed gas. 6.88 gallons bone dry.

What fun!  EEK!

I left my camera in my pocket since Ben was doing the documenting.

I guess Ben is too busy keeping his basement dry to post up his pictures...

Choices and priorities.

I didn't get flooded yesterday, but it rained some more here.  I will post some pix from Farkle Mania as soon as I get some time.  I was tired yesterday when I got home, so I rested.  The flooding in the basement resulted in less than eight hour of sleep in the two prior days.  I looks to be a crappy day today, so no riding.  I'll have time to play around on the computer.

I enjoyed the day greatly and my tires are mounted in the right direction!  Twofinger

Denny - Thanks for offering up your garage and teaching me the fine art of the No-Mar tire changer.  Sorry about the skinned knuckle though  Sad

I took a few pics but I know Ben was truly the photo journalist yesterday.  I'll be watching for the pics later.

Finally have some time to beam up some photos, so here they are.

Of course the day had to start with some breakfast.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4090.jpg

Then it was on to Farkle Mania.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4101.jpg

Here's Cheddar feeling very sure of himself.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4103.jpg

Chuck starting to dig into the rear tire project.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4104.jpg

Is this really necessary?
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4105.jpg

Various things from Cheddar's ride.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4108.jpg

One happy camper.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4113.jpg

The tire finally comes off.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4118.jpg
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4119.jpg

Hey this aint as easy as it looks!
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4124.jpg
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4132.jpg

After all that, the bead would not seat on the new tire.  Doh!
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4140.jpg

It's hard to tell if Denny is trying to get the bead to seal of if he's just doing this for kicks. Lol
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4141.jpg

Problem solved.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4143.jpg

Meanwhile back at the ranch.  David and Scott tackle a tire on the Wee.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4147.jpg

Here's proof that you can have all of the fancy lifts and air compressors that you want, but what you really need is a big ass shovel to mount a tire.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4148.jpg

No Farkling on this one today, just a really nice ride.

Troy V showed up on his beautiful VFR.

This is Oblivian's daughter.  She wasn't too interested in the farkling, but she does win the cutie pie award.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4165.jpg

And what would a farkle day be without meat.  Dennny didn't let us down.
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/bcoley_01/102_4166.jpg

Thanks again Denny for letting us hang out at your place for awhile.  It was fun.

I can't thank you guys enough for changing out my tires.  I changed front and back brakes today before I threw the wheels back on. Nice way to spend Father's Day.  Got a quick run in and still got to hang with my ladies.  Got to scrub, scrub, scrub those tires.

And in a case of "small world," we ran into Denny and family at breakfast this morning. Huh.

I snapped a few pics between child-wrangling and standing around feeling useless: http://flickr.com/photos/oblivion/tags/farklemania/

Sorry for the double-post, but I just wanted to say OH MY GOD I love these new tires.  No idea why I waited so long.  The old front was causing a head shake under deceleration or if I'd take a hand off the bars. She runs straight as an arrow now and if I were so inclined, I could even take BOTH hands off the bars.

What a difference new rubber makes. Bigsmile

Thanks again Denny, Scott, et al.

BTW, did anyone get a picture of me holding my daughter AND helping with that pesky front tire? That would be one for some pantywaist parenting magazine, I'm thinkin'. Smile

Ok, I promise I'll let this thread die a natural death now.  I'm just stunned that a week after joining the board I've met such cool, generous and helpful folks.  And I got to save about $80 in shop charges. Score.

Cheddar, I hope ya missed the bad weather on the way home.

Sorry for the delayed response, guys...started a new job yesterday, so I was "off the grid..." all weekend, as I turned in my laptop on Friday AM.

I too want to say "THANKS!" to Denny for hosting what was an awesome event.  Sure got quiet around the place when all the "tire-changers" cleared out and David was off after swapping batteries...

Found a couple of plastic pegs missing...so if they turn up as you put the shop back in order, Denny, bring 'em along to the next coffee meet.

Got caught in a spectacular rainstorm at the State line on my way back north.  Good thing I left the Frogg Toggs at home!   EEK!  Hid out under the awning at the BP Station for about 30 minutes, chatting it up with another proud ST owner to pass the time.  I was rewarded with a "spectacular" view of a triple rainbow over Lake Michigan as I resumed my travels northbound.
