I couldn't make it to WCRM but I decided to take the day off and...get caught in a downpour.  Smile

This road is called Bachman grade. It goes through the mountains and out into the Oregon outback and Owyhee Uplands

That storm's bigger than it looks but I'm going anyway.

This is what it looks like at the summit which is only about 5,300 something ft but it looks nice. Kinda dark today though.  Smile

More of one of my favorite areas in the world.  Thumbsup

Directly in front of the bike high in the hills is Silver City, Idaho. It's an old mining town and at one time it was really bustling. I'm running out of time today, but soon I'll ride up, through, and over. There's too much snow now anyway.

That's it. It was a great day but the stock scorpion tires on the 990 are really scary in the mud. Crazy

Thanks for the pics.

Have you found a tire you want to replace the stockers with?

Not really, I do a lot of highway with the 990 too. I may try a Karoo on the front and keep the Scorpion rear.

The scorpions are pretty good unless they get packed with the clay/mud we have in some of the Oregon mountains. It took me forever to get that stuff off the bike, it sets up like cement.

Friend of a friend was riding his KLR out of the campground at Three Rivers in SE Orygun after it had rained.  Road was straight as a string when suddenly he goes splat.  Turns out the infernal mud had built up to the point it stopped the front tire of the KLR from turning.   Crazy

Great pics, XLR8.   Thumbsup  Threatening clouds in a background with a sunny foreground do make for superb photos, especially if you don't get wet.  Dang, that Katoom is a looker.

I can't believe I just typed that sentence.   Lol
