Another Adirondacks question

I plan to be riding from Worcester, MA to Watertown, NY at the end of July. Traversing the lower Adirondacks, which would you recommend: RT 28 or RT 8? Thanks.

I'd take Rt 8 -- more fun than it looks on the map, and less traffic. Then take 365 to Rt28N and Rt12.

They are both good roads: different flavor.
Route 8 - twistier, a little narrower and some nice tight turns. fewer towns to go through. The section from Loon Lake to Weavertown has some nice tight challenging curves and elevation changes. The section from Wevertown to Wells has several miles of deer caution notices, some rough surfaces on the road and several nice spots to pull over with a picnic table.
Route 28 carries more traffic, goes through more towns (tourist season) and is generally wider. Good surfaces on the roads. The road generally has more large sweepers, is wider with a more open feeling than route 8.
I ride them both regularly but I would vote for Route 8 as a little more fun, variety and challenging.

Route 8 is the best! From there I take 365 to 12/28 then 12 north.
I know it's really not on the way but RT 8 from Hague on the shores of Lake George over to Speculator is a good ride.

The road from Hague is a great curvy up and over the mountain kind of road. Caution:When you first leave Hague at the T intersection you go about 100 yards or less, there is a rushing stream on your left and the road turns very sharply to the right. It's very narrow at that curve and cars and frequently very large trucks often come booming down the hill and round off the curve right in front of you. Have a good ride.
