I use online weather services religiously, but I'ver never attempted to determine how useful they are for predicting the local weather more than 2-3 days in advance. Well, let's see how Intellicast does on this one

As of Tuesday, June 3 the weather predicted for Eureka Springs during the national meet is as follows:

Tuesday June 10: partly cloudy, high 87 degrees F

Wednesday June 11: scattered thunderstorms, high 86

Thursday June 12: partly cloudy, high 83

No prediction for Friday yet.

Daily update on forecast.

On Wednesday, June 4, Intellicast made these predictions for ES, AR:

Tuesday June 10: isolated thunderstorms, high 85

Wednesday, June 11: sunny, 87

Thursday, June 12: mostly sunny, 86

Friday, June 13, mostly sunny, 86

Looking a little better Bigsmile but it still is a ways off; hope they are right about this.

It's called "typical summer forecast," or in meteo-speak, "Overdeveloping."

Cool and sunny in the morning, hot and sunny by early afternoon...cumulus clouds developing into cumulus congestus...then cu-nimbs...then BOOM! Thunder, lightning, and rain...for about a half-hour...then the sun comes back out and it's muggy and steamy as hell...then cools off at dark.

Next day: repeat.

Next day: repeat.

Next day: repeat.

Isolated thunderstorms are easy - you just look at the radar on your web-enabled phone, see where they are, and go in a different direction.

Um... data service IS available out in the middle of the Ozark foothills, isn't it?   Crazy

Accuweather says no rain, highs mid to upper 80s all week.

Which of course means it'll be raining cats 'n' dogs.   Sad

My vote is for the accuweather forecast which looks much better!  Vented gear, shades and water bottles is all that should be necessary.  I'm leaving the rain gear at home!

Don't know about other places...but in the Mid-Atlantic it's gonna be in the 90s for like the next 3-4 days! (Ugh...) I'll definitely be sucking on the Camelback all day.  Smile

Yes, I know that the Accuweather forecast looks better than does the Intellicast one, but do you want to see the more optimistic forecast or do you want to see the more realistic one? Based on the combination of forecasts, it looks like mid-to-high 80's all week with a chance for thunderstorms each day between Tuesday and Friday.

I have been hammered by thunderstorms during every long MC ride I have taken over the last six years. I would just like to take ONE long ride in dry weather. Consequently, my departure date WILL be influenced by the weather forecast. I know, what a freakin whimp! Twofinger

See you all Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the weather. Bigsmile

Looks like there might be heavy rain in northern Arkansas, through Missouri, and much of Illinois on Monday and Monday night.

I hope it isn't raining in Eureka Springs when I get there to set up my tent.  I hate setting up in the rain.

Found my camping spot in Branson.  Taneycomo lake is right outside the rv door.  That is the good news.  The bad news is that I am indoors typing instead of out riding.  Sad   Forecast is Large amounts of rain for today for the entire area of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.   They are predicting that the front will move through by this evening and the weather should be good for Tuesday/Wednesday.

ride safe,
