I can make it, but I'm brining the cage.  I got wet enough yesterday.  There is still some water in the basement, but it can wait for awhile.  I think I may need a new wet vac to finish the job.  The old one was smoking.  Is that a bad thing?  Lol

I made it!  Nice to meet everyone whose names I've already forgotten (including my neighbor - small world)!!!  Great little spot for a meet.  I'd run across it just this spring on a wandering ride I took. I need to take the missus there.

I pulled back into my subdivision just as the rain started - got literally about 20 drops on the bike before I got in the garage. It's POURING now.  Whew!

It's not that I mind getting rained on, mind you, but I DID just wash the bike yesterday (first time this year), so I'm glad it's not grunged up already.

Until we meet again . . . .

Hope you made it all back safe. I think dry is out of the question.  I quickly found out that that Bandit also acts as a surf board in deep water.  I ran into a lot of flooded out roads in  Zion especially the underpasses.

all i can say is "Holy Severe Thunder Storm Batman" it pored the whole way home. it acutely got worse the closer i got to chicago. hit one storm that the wind started to push me around on the road. had to drop the speed to 40 mph.

other than that it was a very good turn out for what the weather was.

Hi gang,  This is Tina posting using Ben's account since I don't have one of my own.  He is back down in the basement battling the flood.  I'm starting to get a little worried.  I think he may have fallen victim to some sort of demonic possesion.  He is speaking in some language that I have never heard before, even from him!  Have you ever seen that mad skipper STN shirt that he has?  The one with the skipper and the read eyes on the front?  That's sort of what he looks like right about now.  If one of us doesn't post again in a few hours send the fire department bio hazard clean up team.  I think this basement situation is going to make his head explode.  Lol  I have to go now.  I need to get back to the flood.  I just came upstairs to get a cross and my rosary beads.

Hi Tina,

This is Mark. You should get your own account then you can monitor everything that goes on.
I too am battling the waters. One of my sump pumps burned up late in the day yesterday. I went to menards and bought 2. One a 3/4 hp and the other 1/2 hp.

The 3/4 is great it pumps 5000 gallons per hour. It can keep up. It ran for a solid 1/2 hour before it cycled off. Thats how fast the water was coming in!

The 1/2 hp sump was for the front sump. The old sump was not keeping up with the water coming in. I just got the 1/2 hp installed about 1 hr ago. It ran steady for 45 min befor it cycled.

I went west on 50 when I left.  Went thru the worst of it fairly quickly.

Then I took 45 north.   Wide variety of rain rates.  Got really windy at one point.   Quite a bit of water on the road.
I NEED to re-waterproof my boots.

Matt, Kris and I decided to wait the worst of it out at the coffee shop. At some point I mentioned stopping at Andy's drive-in for some of the greatest root beer, EVER. Home made and very tasty, served in frosted mugs. Matt took pics so you'll have to wait for those.

While waiting out the initial storm, we did discover and unmask an until now unknown Power Ranger:

Especially if that liquid is the color of my suit. Smile

After I got home and the first gully-washer passed, the wife and I loaded the kid in the Honda Pilot and headed down to Trader Joe's (first time shopping there) down 41. Around Lake Bluff, it was really hairy. I even had to back the SUV down to 30 or so.  Even sitting at a light, the wipers couldn't keep up. I was glad to have 4 wheels at that point.

Glad to hear folks checking in safely. I did see one full dresser heading north around Great Lakes. Yikes.

Then it rained.

Fred, Kris and I waited until the rain let up, then we rode to Andy's Drive In.

There was a threat of bacon.

I had a root beer float.

Then we rode home. The roads were mostly dry and we found some nice rustic roads on the way home.

You all should have waited.  Beerchug

It turns out you guys are pretty nice to converse with.  Who'da thunk it.

Thanks to Mark and Joe for your help.
