Anyone else attend? I've been wanting to for years, but I'm usually at Americade. As I didn't go to A'cade this year, I took the family to WWII instead. If you're a history geek like me, it's awesome. Got to shake hands with a couple of Easy Co. vets (the "Band of Brothers" guys), watch one of the very few B-17s still flying, and, oh yeah, I sat on a couple of German sidecar rigs and went "vrooom vrooom".

I believe that Winters lived around Blue Mountain.
Guarnere, Hefron were from Philly.

I've been to it many times as a WWII Kraut reenactor. I took my family up there last year and met R. Lee Ermy. Helluva nice guy.

Yeah, Winters is still on a farm near Hershey I believe, but reportedly too fragile to travel much. Wild Bill and Babe are alive 'n' kickin' and still good friends; they recently finished a book I think. Don Malarkey, Forest Guth, and Buck Compton were at Reading this year.

This may have been a good year to miss -- damn it was HOT! Walking around for 3 days in heavy wool and cotton clothes in that head had to have been a major challenge. My 14 year-old son, who seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of WWII, just loved all the German hardware there. I can't believe so much of it is still around.

I wanted to go but decided against it. I didn't want to be out in the heat all day.
