I have passed through NJ, in the car, and discovered that I could not pump my own gas in that state.  Does the same hold true for bikes or does the attendant setup the pump and hand you the nozzle so you can fill your bike?

I always pump my own gas. Itried to have an attendent do it once just for kicks and he wouldn't even do it. Than I had to show him the sign that show you can't pump your own gas:)

I pump my own when in NJ. I'm not letting some bone head spill gas on my tank, or be rough with my filler hole  Lol

It's more complex filling a bike with some fuel nozzles and I'm sure non-riders have no idea about it.

They just take your money and hand you the nozzle. Some even give you a paper towel.

On another note one thing that drives me crazy is when they crowd up on you. I get off, put the bike on the centerstand and find that I can't even turn around because the PTE is between me and the pump Crazy Am I the only one that has this problem?

Oh and "You want premium right?" "You know these high performance bikes need premium."

"No regular is fine"

"Okay, suit yourself, it may not run right"

I have had no problem with pumping my own in the Garden State. I love fighting with the vapor recovery nozzle sheath.

Only in 1 of 1000s of fill ups has an attendant insisted on pumping.  They always just hand it over.

Cool, thanks for the replies.  I am plannign a trip through NJ and was debating whether or not I would gas up prior to NJ and just push through or wait until I needed some go-juice and fill up in NJ.

I don't think I've ever had an attendent ever offer to pump gas while I'm on the bike.

Normally - they just come by and chat (probably to make sure I actually put the credit card in the pump).

Funny how some rules just don't seem to apply while you're on two wheels.

Greg,  Never took you for such a sh!t stirrer!  Thumbsup+1.  Never had anyone insist on pumping the gas, but I HAVE had a few insist I get the premium.  And I do hate it when they jump on you as soon as you put the kickstand down.
The older stations esp. in the boonies still have the plain nozzles. Much nicer than the bulky vapor trap apparatus.
