4:10am
"Jefferson County Sheriff, Come out through the front door with your hands UP!"
"Jefferson County Sheriff, Come out through the front door with your hands UP!"
"Jefferson County Sheriff, Come out through the front door with your hands UP!"
"RYAN-- JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF, COME OUT THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR- UNARMED--WITH YOUR HANDS UP!"

4:30am....
Jefferson County sheriff knocks on my door. I answer it....he is equipped with a BulletProof Vest and a TRICK folding stock sub-machine gun, barrel mounted flashlight...30 round clip.
DAMN..."Oh no sir, I haven't seen him"

Turns out my neighbor fired a shotgun at his roommate at 2am....He then disappeared.

6AM--
6 Sheriffs outside, Locking down the house, looks like we will have police presence all day.

No that is the strange thing....I am a very light sleeper.
They said there was an argument, knives...then a shotgun.

I didn't even hear the argument...I really didn't hear a shotgun blast.... Police are still outside.
I can usually hear a dog bark three doors down.

But I didn't hear anything--nor did my wife.

But I'll tell you, opening up my door to the sight of a cop with a SubMachine gun across his chest,--THAT WILL WAKE YOU UP IN A HURRY--ITs better than office, great rush!

So is this a typical thing with your neighbors, Thunder?

This is a true story....

A couple of years ago (ok, more than a couple, because we didn't have kids then) my wife and I were on our way back home. We turn into our neighborhood only find  acruiser with lights flashing and a SWAT cop tell us the whole area is sealed off and we need to "Vacate the premises."

WTF?

Do we leave? Of course not!

We drove down a few streets and sure enough there are 10 cop cars surrounding this house. Well, we know the guy who live right across the street, so we call him. We're like "Dan, what the HELL is going on?"

He says " I don't know, but I've got snipers sitting on my roof!"

Well, we hang out. Nothing happens.

Nothing happens.

I'm yawning.

Still nothing happens.

Finally, we go crash at my mother in laws house. The next morning we go home and find...nothing.

Apparently some lady has called the cops saying her boyfriend had threatened to kill her. She tells the dispatcher he's crazy, drunk and has a gun. Well, the cops show up, she's no where to be found. They surround the house and order the guy to come out with his hands up.

He doesn't come out. So, there's this big stand off. Finally, at like 7:00 a.m. the guy comes shuffling out the front door in his underwear to get his newspapaer and finds like 40 cops pointing guns at him.
Turns out he'd been passed out inside the house the who time the cops were sitting outside.

The corker is the girlfriend had made the whole story up because she was pissed he'd gone drinking with some buddies instead of taking her to dinner!

Well....this one was for real.

Cops came back twice today....K9s, Police surrounding every escape route...

Attempted Murder charges....BAD, BAD FELONY.

Not good.

Other than loud 'band" music he was pretty descent guy...this came out of no where. Drunk...grabbed a gun, friend helped him beat up his roommate...shot the ceiling once...
Roommate is in bad shape....

Christmas Eve 2 years ago there's a knock on the front door. Local LEO wants access to my backyard cuz my neighbor's bi-polar son was off his meds again and was visiting his aged sweetheart of a mother, waving a gun around and making threats.

This wasn't the first time. At each incident the level of police response increased and on this Christmas Eve it seemed as if half the City's police were there, along with CHP, County Sherriffs and Marshals plus a couple of ambulances and fire trucks. They managed to take him away peacefully but it probably was the last straw for the poor woman as she passed away shortly thereafter.

The house still sits vacant over a year and a half later. It's a nice house, 3/2 with a pool, manicured landscaping, and is still being maintained by the family. Anyone interested? You'd have me for a neighbor.

A few years ago I came out of the house to go to work and the entire community was full of Crown Vics with heavy tint and industrial looking bumpes.  There had to be 20 of them all over the block.
As I pulled out and drove away I saw a neighbor about 7 houses down gettin put into a car in handcuffs.  At th end of the block the market patrol cars were blocking off the street.

Nice way to start the day.  As none in my neighborhood talks to one another I still have no ide what was going on - some white collar crime thing as there were no guns or swat guys out.  Looked like every fed in the are was here though (BTW - that would be quite a few).

I called the wife and she asked if I noticed anything odd on my way out to work.  Lol
