Here's a quote from Massimo Granata (Aprilia UK's General Manager) in regards to the RSV-R.

As it stands now the RSV-R in its current shape is the last RSV-R.  We have the new 1200cc V-twin coming out next year, but it won't replace the V60.  It is a more flexible motor suited to a sports tourer or high performance supermotard, and then we have the V4.  We are evaluating if there is a place in the range for something between the V4 and the new 1200.

Wow!  There's about three different levels of rumor in these four sentences.

*No more RSV  Sad.  Shame that; the Factory just took second in BIKE's test of sporting twins, ahead of both the 1098 and 848.

*Aprilia may have a 1200cc V-twin sport tourer?  Schweeeet!   Cool

*Aprilia may have a 1200cc V-twin supermotard?  Truly a ridiculous, fantastic way to shed your driver's license in the quickest fashion possible.   Crazy

yah..I like that part.  Smile

As a Mille owner, it's a bit sad to see it go. On the other hand, it will make the Mille a classic a la Ducati SS  Bigsmile

I can understand their line of reasoning as they're going to race their V four and want to sell as many of them as possible, and don't want the RSV cutting their sales.

That sounds pretty interesting to me too, especially if they make it a true SPORT-touring bike (light weight, great brakes, fully adjustable suspension, etc). Somebody needs to step up to the plate and release something along the lines of the (discontinued) Ducati ST4s...

So does this mean next year I could get a deal on an RSV?  Thumbsup

I think it would be cool for Aprilia to get back into the Sport-Touring biz, I don't know why they dropped the Futura.

I actually had a deal worked out on a brand new '07 ($9500 OTD). The wife wanted me to look for something cheaper for now though since we just had a baby girl. Thus I went with a Speed 4 instead. But I'm sure I'll still be able to find a NEW RSV when I'm ready.

Hell, I found a few dealers that had some new 2004s.

Yeah, the RSV's are showroom anchors. People can get bargains on really fantastic bikes.

Should I get a sportbike again, some kind of sporting twin would be high on my list. And we even have an Aprilia dealer in town now. I wonder how long their RSV-R Factory will sit on the floor (the black one with gold wheels, Ohlins, CF bits, etc).

What I cannot understand however are dealers that have 4 year old NEW RSVs still sitting on the showroom floor yet refusing to budge on price.

I found one dealer that had a silver and red 2004 RSV still on the floor yet refused to budge from MSRP.  Headscratch Scratch that, he was willing to sell it for $11,500 plus $700 prep and $200 freight.  Lol
