HSTA Mailpouch Fly-By, Marrietta Ohio August 22-24

The BEST regional rally of the year will once again be held in Marrietta the weekend before Labor Day.  Come and ride the great roads of SE Ohio and WV during the day and dine and socialize with lots of other sport touring folks in the evening.  

The host hotel this year is the Holiday Inn Marrietta with special rates for rally participents.

Hey Pat,
It's still a bit iffy but I sure want to go.  It will be a nostalgia trip for me.  I cut my MC teeth between I77 (which really didn't exist at the time), I70 and the Ohio River.  Love the roads west of there too.  Those guys who think Ohio is a pool table will sure get a very pleasant surprise.

Pat,
The registration is in the mail and I'm about to make room reservations.  Got a question though.  Since this is a Friday through Sunday event, are Friday and Sunday primarily travel days?
I'm looking to ride SE Ohio for at least two days, but my travel time is in the 8-10 hour range.  I can box Sat/Sun or Fri/Sat by leaving on Thur or returning on Mon.  Do you have a recommendation?

yeah, fri and sunday are usually travel days, with most of the local riding happening on saturday.  most people try to make it there by 5 or so on friday, so as to get cleaned up for the cook-out,  However, I've pulled in there at 9 before and not been the last one there.  Most people leave after breakfast on sunday.  Afterall. " it's the ride, not the destination", getting there is half the fun!

I'll be taking a round about route to get there and back, could do it in about 3 hours, more likely to be about 6

also...I might have a room opening...my son's band may have a gig that saturday night and he might not be able to make it.  won't know for sure until much later though.

I'm going to go on Thursday, I think.  I'll probably reserve a room in the next few days for Thur/Fri/Sat nights.

Got room for Thur, Fri, Sat.  There doesn't seem to be much interest here in the Carolinas for some reason.  Maybe some of them think after Nolichucky it would be a let down to go to the flatlands of Ohio    I may do a bit of WV riding on the way up or swing into KY and head for Ashland to cross into the Buckeye State.  So many choices and so little time
