On Northwestbound US Interstate 90 Friday afternoon, two Sport-Touring motorcycles with Ontario plates were seen being towed on a trailer.  One was a purple V-strom, the other was a late model Boxer BMW with a purple seat.

I... I don't know what to say.  I though I knew you guys.  But this?

HEY!  I was carting around my poor GF who has massive back problems (no, not from sitting on the Bandit for 1700 miles last month...)  AND I was on my way to pick up my daughter.  So nyahh.   Lol

I've seen a FJR riding on a trailer up to Parry Sound.  Read and weep.

Those two bikes look ridiculous with their Givi trunks up in the sky like that.  And that Beemer tank must hold 40 gallons of fuel.  Argh.  Being bikeless I might give that guy the one finger salute if it was me passing him.

He did look at me a little oddly as I kept coming up abreast with my cameraphone held high.  He started modulating his speed to f**k up my shots.

I remember passing a trailer full of bikes in the mountains.  I made a big deal out of laughing at them........... till I saw the Hells Angels patch on one of them.

So you came across some intelligent riders.

Why would anyone want to wear out their tires on something as boring as an Interstate?  Headscratch Nuts

Trailering is the smart way to get to where the good roads are. In Europe, quite a few do it or they use the DB Autozug (auto train).

I think Allen's point was that these were full blown sport-tourers.  What you allude to would make sense if they were trailering a couple of motards or sportbikes.

It all depends how the owners of those bikes see it.

If I only had 2 weeks to tour the Pacific states and I wanted to get there fast so as to spend as much time riding my goal, I'd have to take the Interstate to do so. Half my tire or more would get worn out just getting there and back. What a waste, not to mention, a squared off tire.

If I ever want to get to Spain (from Germany) in a hurry without burning up a set of tires as well as gas at $10.20 a gallon, I'd take the DB Autozug...or a car and trailer if I had those available. It wouldn't bruise my ego.

Truth be told, it wouldn't kill me either.  I've ridden plenty of interstate; I don't need to do it again.  

But you miss the essential point here - I had an opportunity to poke fun at a Canadian.  I seldom get such a chance, and I wasn't about to pass it up.
