Update in first post... I've reserved the largest tent lot in the campground, lot 49.  It holds up to 8 tents.  If we get more than 8 people, we'll need to reserve another lot.

I went out today and found more GREAT roads in the area.

Here's a teaser of some roads I'm going to add to our Saturday ride...

You don't want to run off the road here!   Crazy

A few questions for the participants...

1)  How would you like to handle camp food and beer?  If you want, we could compile a basic list here with preferences for beer and I could get them before the weekend and set up camp Friday morning via (eh hum) my wife's SUV.

2)  Regarding the day ride on Saturday, does anyone have any objections to a 50 mile section of sweeping paved country roads so we can include some really good fire roads in the Monongahela Nat'l Forest?  There are a few sections of paved roads to get to and from, but the longest is a 50 mile section from Kingwood, WV to just past Parsons, WV

This sounds like a blast!!  Anyone have a spare bike?  I'd be WAY too slow on the Strom without TKC's on it.

...and probably still too slow with TKC's on.   Lol

what time will you be leaving on the ride Saturday?

We haven't firmed that up yet.  I would expect that we would like to be eating breakfast no later than 9AM.  Stay tuned for details.   Thumbsup

I'm going to try to make this.  I'll probably take the 950 I just bought.  I'll be in WV in a couple weeks for a DS ride on one of my thumpers.

I was thinking about coming to this. I was just told that I have training for work that weekend, the weekend before it, and the full second week in November.

The 640 is fine. It's in the garage set up and waiting for the Big Woods 200 in Wisconsin.

ooh.  i'm in.  i just recently moved to morgantown and have been looking for someone who knows the back roads/trails.  i only live a few miles from the campgrounds...and i ride a 1986 morini camel...vintage dual sport!

on another note, anyone want to show me/tell me where the dirt trails/single track/atv trails/hill climbs are around here?  i've only found one short one out near where i live (gladesville and 119).   send me a message or email me at info@stainlesscycle.com - i was hoping to go trail riding all this weekend - i have a couple of dirt bikes/trail bikes, and would love to see them get some use.

A friend of mine tells me you're another Guzzi guy and a heck of a mechanic.  I can always use a mechanic as a friend.  In exchange, I'll show you all the good dual sport roads you want.   Bigsmile

I look forward to meeting you.

Hey Doug...this might be a stupid idea...but have you posted this on ADVRider? I say "stupid idea" 'cause it might result in the camground being flooded with crazy-ass offroaders doing dirt burnouts and climbing picnic tables on their dirtbikes.  Lol (But it might result in a few more people coming!)

I'm looking forward to it! Your pics have got me drooling Doug!

Scott, I've thought about posting something in the WV Dual Sport section at ADV.  Some of those guys seem really cool.  Then there are the few who seem a little crazy and there's no guarantee which ones would show up.

I think for the first year, it would be fun to keep it small and see it we can continue it next year.  Perhaps we can move it around from place to place from year to year.   Thumbsup

Thanks for adding a bump to the the thread, we're getting closer to the date.

I'm at PHX Sky Harbor right now getting ready to fly home and haven't been updated on ST.N that much this past week.  Did you attend the Shenandoah 500?  If so, I'll look for a report!

I see we currently have the potential of at least 10 people.  The lot I have reserved so far only holds 8.  Please post up if you're going to be in my current reserved lot.  So far, I have the following 4 people in my reserved lot.  Once we reach 8, the next group of folks will need to reserve their own lot.

Thanks!

CURRENTLY IN MY RESERVED LOT...

Me (R Doug)
Garry
RideWV
Marc11
SWRiverstone

The next four to post up can split this lot w/ us.

Yeah, probably better not to open it up to the FYYFF crowd, LOL. And nope, I ended up *not* doing the Shenandoah 500 this year. I wanted to, but family obligations took precedence and I had to skip it this year...which is why I'm really looking forward to the 24th-26th!  Thumbsup

I think B-rent is coming too with his WR250R...I'll see him tonight and will get him to commit!
