Ouch.

The further the dollar falls the better a Buell starts sounding.  Unfortunately.

This is from the mouth of a KTM salesman maning the display at Mid-Ohio this past weekend. He actually gave an exact amount that was closer to $20K.  Crazy

I'm hoping Aprilia's new RSV isn't in that price range too!!!

I checked out the RC8 while in Europe and it is a very nice bike.  A very nice $14K bike....

I would have guessed it would be closer to the 1098's price.  Are you sure the KTM rep wasn't referring to a 'R' version for $20k?

Last night I was reading about the MasterBike challenge in Spain.  The RC8 did alright, but it didn't beat the Aprilia.  Overall winner was the CBR1000RR.

I've read on several places around the net that it's around $19,500.

I really like KTM, but that seems like a bit much.

I've been waiting for the KTM to come out but, at $19,000 + Twofinger I'm not at all  interested in the bike. To many other good bikes at much cheaper prices. Can't understand why KTM would price themselves out of the market ???

That's way too much.

TWO has a comparison of liter bikes in the September issue.  They like the KTM, but admit it costs too much and they hated the gearbox.

There seem to be a lot of people on this board (in other threads) knocking the looks of the bike.  I, for one, think it's a great looking bike.

I think they just priced themselves out of the market. It should have been more in Aprilia RSV territory price wise which would be $14K

Yep. I love KTM but that is waaay too much cash especially since there are established players in the field that provide more performance for less or the same money.

I checked it out at Indy GP and it was nice (different) but not worth another $10K over the competition. They had a bike full of carbon fiber wheels and body work that probably went $30K but they wouldn't say how much.

Nice but way overpriced  Thumbsdown

Yep, Sport Rider listed it as $19,500.  So much for being competitively priced with the 1098...  Although I had one guy trying to convince me that this one is their S or R model and that there will be a "base" model coming in at a lower price.  I haven't seen anything in any of the mags to support that theory.  Still a gorgeous bike, but way outta my price range.
