Black out the jugs and the swingarm and we'll be almost there.

I don't get it. I read the articles on the XR1200 and came away thinking it's a way heavy, way long wheelbase, bare-bones underpowered bike.
It looks cool with the factory paint but it's nothing more than a UJM, IMO.

If you like... a great-looking UJM with rorty, reliable air-cooled V-twin, soul-stirring sound, self-adjusting valves, and belt drive.

It's gonna be hotter than hell sitting on top of a 260 degree oil tank.

It's based on the Sportster. I'm plenty comfy on mine, even on the 95+ degree days.

I think it looks pretty damn good for a Harley but the rear end/seat unit doesn't quite work. It looks kind of tacked on, like it's not really fully integrated into the overall design.
It does look pretty good though.

The engine heat is less on my Buell than on my XX. I think the fairings on sport bikes hold a lot of heat in. The oil tank is a non issue because Buell uses the swingarm.
You have a point but can it be worse than riding any late model sport bike that routes the exhaust pipes under the seat and out the back?
Hopefully Harley put a heat shield on the seat.

The actual oil tank is behind that cover. I haven't heard of any sporty owners complaining about buttheat from the oil tank. The tank on my XLH1200 (which DIDN'T have a cover) would get hot to the touch but I can't say I noticed any untoward heat in my netherregions, and I mostly wore jeans then.

When's the last time a sportster got ridden more than 7 miles at one time? The oil never even gets hot!

That's what this is... only with CF bodywork, blacked out cases, and the pipes off. Looks like they put good shocks on it, too.

I really like it. Its just so raw, lean and stripped down. I'd love to see them build this exact same bike and not change a thing except higher bars, a huge electric windscreen, lower fairing, three large factory luggage cases, shaft drive, electric centerstand, water-cooling, dash mounted GPS, blue tooth capability, a large pillion seat, maybe a third wheel and... oh I thought I was supposed to give the standard ST.N response.
