Umm, damn. This bike does it for me. Especially in 'red hot denim'. Just love the look with the black rims and the new LED taillight/rear end. What happened to the black powder coat finish on the engine that previous years had?
Someone talk me out of this by telling me how much this bike blows.

My dealer is calling me when they have a 2009 Road King for me to test ride. They have three 2009 Street Glides in stock (the new gloss deep red is f'ing GORGEOUS!!!), but I already have a street glide and I want run a Road King thru' its paces to see if I want to change up to the new frame. Can't wait...

PS... I'd love to talk you out of it, but the darn thing actually knows how to take a turn, too. Sorry... the "bike buyers anonymous" chapter ain't in the house right now.

The rear fender is great and the black rims are great. The non-blacked-out engine sucks. I liked the previous gen better in that regard only.
And sorry to tell you but these things can scoot around corners. A good buddy of mine has one with upgraded, longer shocks and he rides the crap out of it.

I noticed that the engine is no longer blacked out. Was that finish powder coat? How difficult/expensive would it be to get that black finish done after market?. Professionally not rattle can...

Dunno... you can do the primary side pretty easy... just pop it off, degrease, and spray. the other side will not be as easy. and the cylinders...
I don't think it was powdercoated... it was a "crinkle black" finish. Probably paint of some type.

I'm renting a Dyna Low Rider on Saturday to see how I like it. Never ridden a Dyna before. They have a Wide Glide, Fat Bob and Low Rider. I figure the Low Rider would be closest in feel to a Street Bob.
5 hours on it should give me an idea if I'm gonna like the Street Bob...

They're close enough in body ergos, but the 'Bob has higher bars. The low rider is slammed 2 (or more) inches in the rear. Keep that in mind when diving into real turns.

Ride the fat bob if you can... better shocks and lean angle. The low rider is, well... low.

I know the low rider has lower shocks and handlebar than the Street Bob, but it's the closest thing to the Bob that they offer. The spec sheets on the Harley site show it has really similar rake, trail, wheel base, weight etc.
The Fat Bob is not going to feel anything like the Street Bob cuz it has that fat tyre on the front.
Believe me I understand that the low rider is going to have cornering clearance issues due to the shocks, so I'm not gonna to say it sucked cuz of that!
I'm just riding what I think will ride as similar to the Street Bob as possible.
edited to add:
Just checked the specs on the Harley site. The Street Bob and the Low Rider have near to identical seat heights, ground clearnance and cornering clearance so this is a good match for a rental.
The standard SuperGlide has a lot more, but I dig the looks of the Street Bob. The SGlide would not make me want to crack open my wallet..
I guessing that after Saturday I may be asking Chornbe about what shocks would be suitable for the bike to improve ride and cornering/ground clearance! We'll see...
(at least it looks like shock replacement will be a piece o cake compared to mono shock bikes).
