She is GORGEOUS!!! What a beautiful animal. I've been nagging Req to get an ex-racing greyhound, but he refuses, saying they look too much like Kate Moss. Congrats!

WWhat suprises me the most is that they are not hyperactive.  In fact, they are very mellow.

Had a friend who had one.  It was without a doubt one of the most docile, mellow, friendly animals imaginable.  It caused no trouble whatsoever.  It thought it was a lapdog though, and it wanted to sit on you all the time.

Big article in the local paper about Greyhounds. Their are a bunch of local Greyhound owners who meet and take their Greyhounds on 3 mile hikes, about once a week. Keeps the dogs and owners fit.

It also commented on the great personality the rescued dogs have.

The brindle's just *gorgeous* -- congrats.

One thing to remember with retired racing greyhounds is that most of them are used to the plastic 'play' muzzle and don't see it as a hindrance or as a cruel symbol of their previous bondage -- they see it as "Oh, it's time to PLAY now!" like most dogs see their leash. But it also means that many of them don't have any bite inhibition when playing and can really hurt each other or one of their people when they're at play. So if you have one, use it, and if you don't have one, you might think about getting one.

Good on you on rescuing instead of paying some backyard breeder for another labrapoofle!

We got her from Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue in MD.  Fantastic folks.  They have "fun runs" once a month or so down at a farm in Lusby MD.  It is fantastic seeing a bunch of the hounds runnign around like fools.

The wife and kids are already suggesting we get a second GH.

Beautiful. I love greyhounds. They're just a little... large... for our house.

If we didn't already have three aminals, I would have a German Pinscher puppy within the next year. You people ( Wink) posting pictures of your puppies make it really hard for me to restrain myself.  Embarassment

I have found the most dangerous part of a Greythound is its tail.  They have very long and solid tails.  They actually sting if you get wacked by it why it is really going.

Congrats on the new family member!

I heard they were mellow, lazy couch potatoes - which I guess makes sense.  They've retired, and all they wanna do is sit around.

Do you have a nice dog run nearby?  From what I understand, you need to run them often.
