Just don't buy another bike. Yours is just getting broken in.

Against the Wind..

I am buying the FJR to accomidate my 9 year old who has decided he likes the smell of textile bike jackets & also because I am getting old and the Bandit is begining to kill me on long trips.

Bad news i am afraid.  Due to the extremely cold temps. -30 I am postponing my trip until it warms up.  If it doesnt warm up I wont be going. 300+ kms in those temps is a gamble I am not willing to take.  Wish it was warmer. Sad

Hey Rigger:

Sorry I missed hooking up with you for a beverage at the end. My back gave out on me & I was almost home when I got your message. It was a pleasure meeting you though!

Hopefully, you did not part with too much cash.

And sorry i did not hook up with you there Mr. Birdrunner!

And oh man, does the new Connie suck! Lol

No problem Baz.  Was good meeting you and your wife.  I was found it funny that we kept bumping in to each other.  Guess we have good taste in bikes.  And yes the new Connie does suck,  ok I cant tell a lie, it's a wet dream on 2 wheels. I had the opportunity to talk to Honda Canada reps while I was at the bike show and Canada is going to start recieving more European like motorcycles due to many similarities we have.  Apparently Honda USA has say over what motorcycles Honda Canada imports.  Honda Canada has been negotiating with Honda in Japan for a more independant voice.  One rep told me that Honda Canada is looking at bringning the Transalp back.  This rep also told me that there are new bikes in works and they are coming but it will be a few years.  No word on a new Blackbird or VFR, let me rephrase that, when asked the Honda Canada reps would not confirm nor deny the news on those 2 bikes.  The show I thought from a newbs perspective was pretty good. Yamaha caught my eye with a dressed up FZ1, it's really pretty and I fit rather nicely on the bike. The FJR has a nice warm bergundy colour added for 2007.  The new Bandit is really nice but it's too tight fitting for me (long legs).  Ducati had a HAWT 1098 there Drool Moto Guzzi had the Norge (pronounced Nor gay so they told me).  It was very nice and comfy.  Lots of bikes for everyone.  Even squids had their own booths and the Edmonton Police had their Ducati 749 race bike (its street legal but they only use it on the track) beside the squids.  I found this rather entertaining.  When I was talking to the police officer, he was not too impressed at what was being offered for sale at the video sales counter.  Some of the video's were excellent, most of the video's however were of squids.  I heard an insurance company rep also comment negatively on this. The guy wanted $30-$40 per dvd.  The food was really overpriced $7 for a tiny hot dog and a bottle of water, no thanks.  I did find a food vendor that had a really good sized soft taco and bottle of water for $6. I was stuffed after that.  All in all the trip through -20's temps, snow packed / partially ice covered roads was worth it.  Lots of bikes for lots of interests. Sadly I do not have a digital camera so no pictures-sorry.  Well thats my story and I am sticking to it! If anybody else went lets hear what you have to say.

Hey Ray:

I actually tore a strip out of the Ducati riding cop at the Tim Horton's in Edmonton one day. He shows up in jeans & a T shirt riding the Duc.

I asked him if he was promoting squid night. He replied it was too hot of a night to be wearing gear.....uggh.

I think the kid got the job for his boyish good looks, and not from his abundance of brains!

Baz was it the same cop that was at the show?  He was talking and sounding like he had a head on his shoulders. Also told me he always wears gear.

Yup, it was the same one, and maybe now he always wears gear. I am not the only one that has had words with him. Lol
