Why?

The TE 610 is excellent, and I like it very very much. It holds a special place for me because it was the bike that got me hooked on some off road adventure...but...

Now that I have my 990 I find I can ride it damn near everywhere I rode the Husky. I don't ride much single track. Mostly I ride back roads and dual tracks. Just like I'm not much of an extreme pavement rider and lean more toward brisk touring, I'm not an extreme off road rider. I like FS roads dual tracks in the Owyhee mountains, etc. I know this sounds strange but I save my extreme off road time for my mountain  bike.  Smile

Hmmm, Am I making a mistake?

Knobblies on the FJR would have served as well.

You're just a bike whore.  ADMIT IT!

I am a bike whore sometimes.  Smile

But I look at it like this. I want to be able to sit in my rocking chair and know that I tried some different stuff, lived life and had fun. I always hate having to say, "I wish I would have..."  Beerchug

Yes, you're making a mistake.  You'll find out the first time you drop that gorgeous 990.

No, no mistake, the TE610 needs to go. What year, how many miles, where is it located, how much do you want for it?

Ah, I was wondering which bike it was that you were thinking about getting rid of in the Kawi thread.

Well, they'll probably still be making them when you realize what a mistake you made...

If I had the $$$ I'd be asking the same thing...but the 690E is calling for me (and I don't have the $$$ for that either).

Obviously you will need to part with one of your mounts to get the ZX14 (which is a decision past the point of no return for a fellow bike whore Wink) So, which off road bike can you live without most???

Made to survive drops.  Which one, between the two, was really made to be picked back up? Wink

I'm with you XLR8. I came within millimeters of buying a WR250R, but backed off, partly for the same reason as you: I realized that my KLR is perfectly capable of taking me 90% of the places I want to go (primarily dirt/gravel roads, fire roads, relatively tame doubletrack).

Sell the 610 and the Katoom, buy a used KLR 650, and use the savings to fund many a backwoods tour.

You'd have to spend an extra $3000 on the KLR to make it a half way decent motorcycle.

How's that?  It's tough to get an XRR for $3k; and that's the only way you make a KLR dirt-worthy (by taking the stickers off your KLR and affixing them to a superior bike). Lol

Feel free to sell me the TE wheels and front caliper.  I need a dual sport setup and they never seem to come up on ebay.

I think you should tell the TE610 and buy a real dirt bike.  Then you can stop posing as a dirt rider.

Ouch  Smile

Well the truth is there is some overlap between my 990 and 610 so I wouldn't mind a smaller 450. My wife knows nothing of these evil plans.
