I was feeling cooped up and going crazy so I decided to do a longer ride today while the weather held out.  I left at 9:00am to miss most of the morning rush hour and came back around 4:30 just missing the bulk of the evening rush.  Where did I go...I'm getting there...  Galina.  I had never been between Stanley and Galina and I hadn't been to Stanley for a couple of years so why not?  Galina summit was mostly clean with some wet spots and lots of frost heave but still fun.  Idaho city to Lowman was cleaner than it was just last Friday...at least for sand.  I the morning there were several large rocks sitting in the middle of the road but they were mostly all gone by the time I returned in the afternoon.  All in all it was a good ride.  Oh yeah....and here's some pics. :-)

Side note: I got some er6i earphones and they....um...they rock! Excellent earplugs and the sound is just great.
Also, I didn't see a single LEO but I did see a deer.  It looked like it wanted to commit suicide but then chickened out when it heard my V-Twin engine breaking.  lol  Otherwise I had the road almost all to myself, that was why I got so many pictures in just 375 miles.  Another side note:  Streets and trips was right on for time and distance, I think I could follow a pretty tight schedule with that program.
Have fun.

I first did the Stanley loop back in mid-July of 2003, and have the blog at:
http://myweb.cableone.net/grumbler/stanley/

The overlook by Galena Summit is something else although the Sawtooth Mountains
aren't exactly close-up and personal. Nice series of twisties when heading south on
SR-75 from the crest of Galena Summit. However, I'd rather return the same way I
came (Stanley, Lowman, etc) than continue through Ketchum and Fairfield.

Haven't had the opportunity to take advantage of the weather these past few days
thanks to family commitments.

Very nice.

I can almost smell the pine bark and feel the dank cool spots in the canyons.

Thanks for sharing…

Not a single food pic, not one description of each foto, I could go on.

This must be moved to Ride Reports, stat!

 Bigsmile

Thanks for posting. I've only been to Idaho once, and that was in an August of '98. It's a beautiful place.

I was thinking about doing a ride report but I just wanted to post up the pics and say "Hi, I'm riding my bike! Now go take on the day!" lol  Because my wife and I are watching our funds and I was feeling a little guilt for burning money up on gas, I made a nice peanut-butter and jelly sandwich and had an IZZE soda in my tank bag.  Not worth taking a picture but I will tell you that the jelly had soaked into the bread on one side and made it all soggy....just the way I like it.  Inlove
I am glad to post up pics and share the beauty of Idaho.  Stay tuned for my summer Oregon trip :-) (Seven days now and moved up to late June) This one will be a ride report for sure and a celebration as well.  More on that later. Have fun. J

I guess if you really want a food pic I have this beauty for you.  Clowning around for my wife. :-)

Stay tuned for my summer Oregon trip :-)

I'd have to say that the day we rode from The Dalles to Redmond via Rowena Crest-
84-35-Skyline Rd-Timothy Lake Rd-Clackamas River Rd-Breitenbush Road-Santiam
Highway-Quartzville Rd-126-McKenzie Highway-126 was absolutely terrific. One of
the best rides we've ever had. By we, I mean myself, Jack and Mike.

Nice!

I guess, even though you wouldn't ride with me to the falls. I would have waited. Nobody likes me anymore. Do I smell that bad? Is it the VFR?

I like you Ron.  Heck, I like you a whole bunch...expecailly if you let me ride that VFR sometime.   Bigsmile
I also don't think you smell....all that bad.    I don't care what these other guys say.   Lol

PS. I would have gone with you to the falls but you sounded like you were on your way and it was going to take me another hour to get to Boise.  Then...we weren't going to get back until way late unless we took the freeway and I absolutly Loathe the freeway! Did you end up going?  I'd still go if we leave around 9:00 am and avoid the slab.  Bigok

I did go and I have pictures but I have to finish some homework before I post a few.

Going up I took almost all back roads. Coming back I took highway 30 as far as I could but I was messing around so much during the day that it was getting dark and deer were appearing so somewhere around Hammet I just jumped on the interstate and did 90+ MPH all the way back. It seemed like it only took a few minutes to get home.  Bigsmile

It was a great day, not so twisty, but I've not been to those falls so it was cool. Twin Falls is crowded though. That place has grown too much.
